UNKNO My Style Studio (Klutz Activity Kit)

Back in the 80's when i was a kid, i used to trace the drawings on my mom's sewing patterns. When someone gave me Fashion Plates, i was obsessed. Wanted to find something similar now that my own daughter's getting into fashion. I'm really impressed with this set. You definitely get your money's worth, imo, with items that can be used and reused for a long time. Comes with a really nice book that my daughter is able to easily understand, plus everything else she needs to create tons of looks. Perfect tool to help kids get started with fashion drawing, would make a great gift too.

My 6 year old is really into drawing and fashion and this was perfect for her. I'd say 6 is about the youngest age that can use this since it requires a fair bit of dexterity, but the combinations of outfits and styles is really good. I considered the other fashion plates but went with this instead and I find this much more interesting and easy (rubbing plates can actually be tricky to get the hang of for kids and can smear - this is better for any little perfectionists out there!). I can tell she'll be using this for years.

Let me say that I bought this for myself, a 55-year-old seamstress/fashion designer. Drawing has never been my strength. I researched many similar products and decided on this one based on ease of use, fashion options, and price.Why didn't I give it 5 stars?-The included pen smears. Per the instructions, in the book, I let it dry for "a few seconds" (about 15 to be exact). When erasing the pencil lines, the ink smeared. :-( I strongly encourage purchasing a black Sharpie Ultra Fine Permanent Marker to use instead. Using this marker enabled me to erase with no waiting and no smearing.-Only 8 colored pencils: red, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, black, and white. Learning to blend your own colors is a great skill to have. If I was a kid again, I'd want orange and pink included too. If you're buying this for a child, I'd recommend additional colored pencils as an add-on.-SOME of the details (faces) are tiny and a bit challenging/fiddly to trace. Patience and good eyesight will help. LOL-CAUTION: The figure is typical of fashion designer, tall & thin. The book addresses this and states that she's not realistic.Why I love it!-Packaging: Everything fits neatly into the book, including the art supplies. Great for trips!-Options: So many! Faces, hairstyles, tops, bottoms, dresses, and shoes! 1,000s of mix and match possibilities!-Included supplies: Good quality eraser & colored pencils, lots of tracing paper.-Drawing board: Well designed well to keep tracing paper aligned with figure and fashions.-Book: Have your child read (and understand) the first 13 pages BEFORE starting. Don't worry, most of it is explanatory pictures.-Book highlights! Great drawings and well written. Lots of tips and tricks. How to combine tops and bottoms to make dresses and outfits. How to modify the templates for custom looks and designer details. Additional traceables for accessories like glasses and jewelry, and prints for fabric. A good explanation of how to achieve various skin tones.Overall, aside from the pen issue, this is a TERRIFIC product. I'd highly recommend it for budding fashion designers, young and old ;-)

I rated it 3 stars because it is a bit hard for me to use.

I am a fashion designer by trade, so when my 6 year old daughter shows interest, I want to show her how things are done I love this book because it is so accurate to the real process, but helps bridge the gap between a professional and a child who is just learning. Love, love, love this! My daughter is probably on the younger scale for the patience and ability to use the small plastic clings and trace. In general, I would recommend for ages 7+.

My granddaughter is quite the fashionista and loves to design. This was the perfect gift for her 8th birthday and she loves it!!

This kit is so fun and it provides all the material you need. I was expecting a small amount of tracing paper but got about 50 pieces! Highly recommend this for any girls 12-under!

I bought this for my niece. She really likes to design her own fashions. She loved the gift and has spent many hours keeping busy with this. I would recommend.
