Good, but a bit too fancy
These recipes were good and I’m sure quite tasty, but a bit overly involved and fancy for my needs. I just wanted some basics on how to microwave certain things I’ve discovered microwaving seafood is great, but the recipes here were very heavy on exotic ingredients I don’t keep around. For a more experienced cook with all these spices and oils this may give them a bunch of new ideas. If I had fresh ginger sesame oil, and a freshly ground coriander root, do you think I would be microwaving my meal? I’m lucky if I can find a spoon in my kitchen…

Great book; defective copy
This book has a ton of information about microwave cooking, which is what I wanted. My copy, however, is defective. There is an entire section missing and a duplicate of another section is in its place. I decided to keep the book anyway, because the rest of the book is excellent, and I can do without the missing section.

Great book
This is an excellent book. Who knew you could cook so many things well in a microwave. Advertised as good it appears "like new" to me.

Get to Pick a Microwave Engineer's Brain, Too!
Not Your Mother's Microwave Cookbook:Fresh, Delicious and Wholesome Main Dishes, Snacks, Sides, Desserts and More!By Beth HenspergerPhotography by Joyce Oudkerk PoolA review by Marty Martindale, Editor, Foodsite MagazineMost of us have owned a microwave for many years, and often they still mystify us with mishaps or negative food outcomes. Here is why this book is a find for all of us: Hensperger's dad is a microwave engineer. So, it is with knowledge, we can take her first chapter, The Essentials of Microwave Cooking, quite seriously and learn quite a lot about our oft' times wayward cooking box. In it she not only deals with important do's and don'ts, she also includes many of the little method tips that make a well-behaved microwave so handy. Here's some of the recipes, 320 pages of them, we thought interesting:PERFECT SCRAMBLED EGGSYou only need unsalted butter, large eggs, milk or cream and seasoning.CUP OF MISOWater, tofu, scallions, miso paste, lemon juice and cilantroTOKYO CLAM CHOWDERButter, onion, celery, potato, broth, soy milk, parsley, potato flakes, canned clams and miso pastePOLENTA CASSEROLE WITH FONTINA AND TOMATO SAUCEOlive oil, onion, celery, carrot, garlic, cannedc tomatoes, parsley, oregano, basil, polenta and fontina cheeseFIVE-STAR SESAME BROCCOLISesame seeds, broccoli and seasoning. A great way to learn how to cook in the microwave
This book is really good for learning the principles of cooking by microwave. The first chapter describes how the microwave works, and understanding how it works is key to using it correctly. I guess I won't go into the physics here, but it's really very interesting and explains so well the phenomena I observed but didn't understand. I now know exactly which objectives the microwave will achieve efficiently and effectively, and how to achieve those objectives. My favourite part of the book, besides the 'how it woks' chapter, are the boxed explanations which allow you to generalize beyond rote recipes. For example, how to cook vegetables in the microwave with type specific notes (leafy greens vs winter squashes).I have not actually tried a single recipe, because my goal in buying the book was not to prepare entire dishes or meals. Rather, I wanted to understand how the microwave could make my life easier. I felt that the microwave could decrease prep time, decrease cleaning time and save energy, with, in some cases, superior results. This book confirmed that suspicion and showed me how it could be done. That being said, I found a number of recipes that looked intriguing. Originally I didn't intend to make entire dishes, but now I plan to.The production quality is excellent, despite the complete lack of photographs. The book is very cleanly typeset, with subtle but effective use of colour.

Purr-fect for people who have no cats anymore, not even one.
Perfect if you're sad. I used to be so lonely, and I could count all my friends with one hand and zero fingers, because I had zero friends. So I bought this cookbook to make meals for myself when I was sadding around the apartment after my cat left because I refused to bathe myself or feed it. The delightfully easy-to-prepare meals inside this cookbook gave me an excellent escape from the tedium and crippling loneliness of my life without friends or a cat.

Not Your Mother's Microwave Cookbook
This is a great book with lots of microwave receipes and hints on using the microwave. The only thing I wish there were more main menu receipes. There are a lot of deserts and sauces which is helpful but I was looking more for main dishes. All in all it is a very useful book. not for the novice
A very good book for a person with cooking knowledge and wishing to entertain but for a 70yr old widow like myself having never had to cook far to complicated to understand
