I use as an island
I needed more kitchen space and counter top with my apartment being so long and small, which i love, so I bought this unite and OMG what a life saver. All i need to cook in one space, you can move it as needed, has wheels that lock. I am going to add a thin butchers block on the top to protect it since i am using it for cooking but other then that it works amazing for my needs.

DO NOT ASSEMBLE WITH CHILDREN PRESENT. You may use language you probably don't want them to hear.
2.1 stars for quality.0.1 stars for ease of assembly. This thing is flimsy, but adequate for my needs. But assembly is a nightmare. As one reviewer pointed out, "You might as well just go buy the raw materials and design it yourself."* You will need THREE screwdrivers, not ONE as described (spade, phillips, hex).* You will need a drill because 16 holes are NOT PRE-DRILLED AT ALL (for casters).* Many holes that ARE pre-drilled are improperly sized or positioned. Be prepared to do a lot of hammering & cursing to get components fitted together.* Wood dowels provided are loose and fall out of pre-drilled holes onto the floor during assembly.Be aware that the instruction manual is provided for amusement only. Instructions are often contradictory or flat wrong.Language is a laughably quaint approximation of English. Don't waste time trying to read it. Just compare components to the pictures and you'll have to figure out yourself how to put this thing together. Eventually. Allocate about four times the amount of time you'd spend assembling a similar unit from Ikea.

Honest REVIEW
I almost had to settle for a microwave stand cuz I couldn't afford a kitchen island. Then this bad boy went on sale. I purchased knowing that it wasn't going to be a solid solid piece but would do the job. Yes it is difficult to get together but reading some of these reviews makes me laugh. My 10 yr old and I put it together. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and think before u drill ;) but all in all... there were no predrilled holes in the doors but we put the screws in just fine and there is a slight gap between the doors... slight... only thing I dont like is the drawer is not going to hold much so I will be carefull with that but other than that it can hold everything I need it to. Which is 3 small appliances, some mixing bowls and my recipe books in the drawer. I am very pleased with how deep it is as I didn't think my indoor grill would fit. Thanks for the sale! My kitchen looks amazing now!

Incredibly poor quality; poor instructions; and poor quality control
I purchased this island because of the price and the look. When I received it, I was disappointed by the quality of the materials (particularly the handles which are a flimsy plastic); however, I decided I'd keep it and put it together considering the price was good. I'm moderately handy, but these instructions were a nightmare. There were multiple steps where it wasn't clear which hole was supposed to be used. It didn't help that several of the parts were labelled with the wrong number. On top of that, one part that was supposed to have a pre-drilled holes was missing the pre-drilled holes. I contacted Hodedah for a replacement part, to their credit, they did mail one immediately. Despite my growing frustration, I decided I'd continue trying to put this together. However, when I finally neared completion, I realized that the drawer was too narrow for the track so it would fall out of the track. This was the final straw, and I returned the product. On top of all the construction issues, I have some other serious issues, the base of the drawer is incredibly flimsy, I'm sure it would break. You are required to nail in finishing nails in one part. The plywood is quite thin so it's likely you'll crack it. I also have to assume that there are a number of fake reviews posted, I've seen five-star reviews saying they built this quickly and easily, I just can't believe that.

You get what you pay for but it's not all that bad.
The media could not be loaded. This unit isn't awful. It's not as hard to assemble as a lot of the reviews suggest - however - because of those reviews we definitely were cautious about steps and there are some steps that are not in the most practical order - so thinking ahead is helpful for sure. The look is nice. It's small but you know when you buy it what the size it. I included some photos to try to show what it looks like - in a small kitchen. It serves it's purpose for us - I needed extra counter space and the extra storage is great. There were issues though...The 'counter' top is damaged. There is one larger spot that is easily seen in the photos however the entire top has lots of little spots like that. You can't really do anything about them... you either accept it or return ( I called Amazon about it and got a 20% partial refund for the inconvenience). It is NOT meant to be in the middle of the room as I have it. To be honest it may have said that in the text of the ad, I didn't read it all I guess but know that the back side (I've included a photo) the 2 outer corners of the top don't have anything hiding the raw material. I have purchased some wood markers to try to make it less unpleasant to look at and will update if I am able to make it look pretty. But know that if you're planning on using it in the middle of your small kitchen. The unit itself is pretty sturdy so that's awesome! But the drawer is also flawed. In the video I posted you can hear on the 2nd opening of the drawer that it doesn't open smoothly and has quite a click to it. We have tried to fix this in every way we can think of but have decided to just accept it and live with it.As I say in the headline - you get what you pay for. This is an inexpensive kitchen island/storage unit and I bought it because it was so much cheaper than all the others I looked at.... so I will have to accept the flaws too.But - it is very nice and other than the damaged top, it's great looking too!If the top wasn't full of marks, I would have given it a higher star rating for sure. If you want the $750-$1000 quality island, don't buy the $185 one ;)
