Case Files Biochemistry, Second Edition (LANGE Case Files)

Links biochemistry topics to medicine. I have been reading this along with lippincotts biochemistry for my undergraduate class. I find lippincotts to be very interesting and high yield, while this book links the topics and teaches them in a way that engages your intellectual side. Each case files series presents a case, which are normally about a page. They then ask key questions to get you thinking. They then have key topic definitions. They then teach the material. And last each case has questions to test the knowledge you just learned. This book has helped me show off on a couple of my exams, which is what all of those premed gunners are looking for ;). I would reccomend this and lippincotts biochem for every undergrad course.

The cases in here were great for med school biochem. When I had the time, reading the cases and the relevant background info provided was really helpful. However, even when I was pressed for time and could only read through the practice questions for relevant cases (usually 3 to 5 questions per case), this was still a really useful resource for the course. This was also pretty high yield for the nbme shelf exam.

I like the format of the book, it presents the diseases in a clinical scenario ( which you would see on most exams ) and the explanations are good as well.

It's a great way to review and study biochemistry using a conceptual approach! Highly recommend!
