Chicago Blue: A Fast-paced and Funny Crime Caper (Red Riley Adventures Book 1)

Amusing and Light-Hearted
This story starts at a frantic pace and doesn't let up. Kay Riley is a Chicago police officer. On a routine call to a downtown highrise building, suddenly, a bomb goes off, killing the CEO of a significant telecommunications business. Strangely enough, the CEO that died was in the offices of his biggest rival. To add to the strangeness, Riley is named a suspect in the murder. When another bomb goes off, things move into really high gear. This is a fun read -- but very unrealistic. I read the teaser (an addendum to the book) but haven't decided whether to continue the series.

Chicago Blue
This book was a funny, exciting crime story. The heroine was not necessarily good at what she did but she managed. I liked her friends, Ruby, who seemed to be some kind of an operative, and her nephew the tech guy. I liked that at the end of the book they all walked away with a good chunk of money.

A fun whodunit story. And how the heck is Officer Kay Riley going to get out of this mess?
The story is charming! And Kay, the main character, is witty, sassy, and delightfully impulsive. Kay also has two terrific accomplices who eagerly help her through the many whacky twists and turns Kay finds herself. It was great that the author included an excerpt from Book 2.More escapades are about to unravel!

A fun unbeleivable wild ride
Kay Riley is a police officer in Chicago. She's on a call when a bomb goes off. Now she finds herself a suspect. It is definately a fiction book because no one could go through what she does an live. It's fun going on this ride with her. I enjoyed this book and have already picked up the next. I love the characters, even the bad guys. There is a little humor thrown in ocassionally and the store is well written. It's not too intense so it should be enjoyable even if mysteries are not your go to read. I think you will enjoy it, give it a try.

Officer Red Riley becomes a Gumshoe
To me this was a venture into a new character. I believe it was the first of this new detective series. While it did have some bumps and bruises along the way I feel the main character, an ex-female police person, will eventually transition into a reasonable private eye. It had its humorous paragraphs which kept the story light but the character was not as developed as it could have been in this one book. I'll definitely try the next one or two to see how she does develop. All in all, a reasonably enjoyable, albeit short, read.

Good read
I loved the heroine and the way this story unfolded. Looks like a sequel is on the way and, most likely, just as interesting.

Fast Paced Story Set In Chicago
There are some good reviews for this. It is fast paced and in places funny. However, it lacked something for me. But it is worth a try. You may like it?Industrial espionage strikes in Chicago on a major scale. The fingers point at police officer Kay Riley. Why would a cop do such a thing? All she was trying to do was arrest someone in a tall building. Picking up injuries on the way. Yes, she got away with her life which was more than a fellow police officer did.For her efforts and ten good years of service. The city decides she is on gardening leave until an investigation board meets to decide her fate. But before the enquiry happens, assassins have targeted Kay. She manages to survive another close shave. Then whilst lying low. Another incident in a Chicago skyscraper. All of a sudden Kay Riley is public enemy number one in the state of Illinois.Someone or somebodies is setting Kay up. Who? More importantly why?Kay or red as she is known due to her ginger hair. With the use of various disguise’s goes out to try and solve this.Got to clear your name somehow. But, just who is that woman with the agility of a cat?

I don't do book reviews
I don't do book reviews like you keep seeing, as I find that some give too much of the plot away and I personally hate that, as it makes the book not worth reading. I much prefer to take the authors back cover write up as a review as it can either intrigue you enough to read the book of provide you enough information to make you decide that the book is not for you.My review rules are: The more stars, the more I liked it.If there are too many typos or errors the less stars I giveIf the storyline or plot is poor or contains too many errors, the characters are too weak, the ending lacking something, then the less stars I give.Simple, uncomplicated and to the point without giving anything away. Some of the books I read have been given to me by the author as a pre-release copy and this does not bias my reviews in any way.

Good fun.
So what's a so-so disenchanted cop to do when she's been put on suspension ? Well of course she's going to try and clear her name. After all, being in a room when a bomb goes off is bad enough but when it happens again, there are questions to be asked.Good fun, well paced and a believable main character who, for a change, isn't a martial arts expert, a computer genius or ex services but instead is....Well I guess klutz would be the best description so Red Riley fully deserves her highly commended status..

"Minor flaws , major dose of fun"
Just what I needed. Red Riley gets into all kinds of scrapes as a PI trying to clear her name. This falls somewhere between cozy and no-holds barred thriller, but it works because it's a fun read. We could all do with something like that right now.
