I had the same issue initially as did Katherine. I thought I could not get the pole to fit into the hole in the bamboo base. The first few times I tried I could see the shape of the hole was not the same as the base and the hole was just a bit too small. But then I tried again and got some leverage and put some muscle into it and succeeded! The wood is soft enough to accommodate and the pole end fits snugly all the way up to where it should. I bought this several years ago and just now decided to use it. Unfortunately the plant I had initially purchased it for died before I could use the light. But my present plants are looking good under it. The light seems to bring out their beautiful green colors. Thank you everyone for your reviews!

I bought this for the plants in my office. I have some succulents that require a little more light than the windows at my house can provide without causing them to stretch towards the light. I wish the light was a little brighter because even though the light is only a few inches above them, they're still reaching. My african violet seems to love it though. I like that you have he option to either have it freestanding or you can poke it into the pot.

While the light was great while it worked, and appealing to the eyes, it died after 6 months of 12 hr daily timer use. I have cheap mini halos that have lasted me 4 years. Wish I could find those again.

Updated 7-31-25: I ordered a new plant light. The telescoping rod was easy to put in this time. The control switch is a little different from my old one. See picture. The light on the left is the old one with a single button. The new light has an on/off button, a button to select the number of hours of light, and two buttons for light intensity. Updated 7-28-25: The lights no longer work. I've had this plant lamp for 3 years now. It was a good lamp when it worked but I'm not sure if it did anything to encourage plant growth. Original review: Both holes in the base are too small for the pole to fit into. I managed to get the pole in by really pushing it in hard and wiggling it. The grow light itself is compact enough for desks and small spaces. The timer doesn't work well. I initially plugged the lamp in at 7:30am and set it for 12 hours. After a few weeks I noticed that the light would turn on later and later eventually reaching an hour later at which point I unplugged the lamp for a day before plugging it back in to reset the timer. The timer should turn the light on at the same time every day, not a few minutes later and later each day. I'm not sure if the LED light produces enough of the light wavelengths my plants need. My mini African Violet has plenty of leaves but no flowers, indicating insufficient light.

O have had two of these plant light stop working, After a few months or more. I have switched out the brick, tried using a USB surge protector but nothing works. I searched for replacement lights and found none. These are great lights but they don't last long.
