Works fine - Just ignore the instructions...
Mine is on the wall and works fine, no leaks at all. I was put off by all the negative reviews about it leaking but I figured give it a shot after reading one review about the instructions being wrong, causing all the trouble. It comes with instructions printed on the box and inside separately. Have a look through them to see what should go where, get the basic idea and then ignore them and use your common sense and logic to install this. You get connections for the ends of the hoses, and the adjustable nozzle for changing your spray pattern. One of the connections if a one way valve, which I didn't see the point of, but installed it on the supply connection at the back of the reel (the instructions don't tell you where it should go...).The instructions tell you to unscrew the internal connection attachment (the white bit) in the center of the reel; that the mains supply connects to at the rear, and the main hose connects to at the front. DO NOT DO THIS! I believe this is what's causing everyone to have leaks, as another reviewer said, it 'breaks a seal' and then makes it useless. The center front of the reel (the bit with the logo on it) lifts off for access to the output connection where the main hose connects, there is no need to unscrew anything, just use the access panel at the front. The one and only thing I had a little trouble with was the metal coil thing which (for reasons I'm yet to learn) is inserted into the hose pipe which connects to the output connection in the center-front of the reel. Don't hook this around the end of the hose as I originally did, it needs to insert in to the connection and hooks inside the connection. Someday I'll discover it's purpose, I really don't see what difference it makes to anything. The hose guide included is a bit cheap and nasty, I almost didn't use it. You have to construct it yourself, but it's straight forward. I improved it by countersinking the screw holes that attach it to the wall, so the screws would be flush with the surface of the guide, rather than protruding out - not aesthetically pleasing. This is something that should have been done as part of the original mould really.Anyway, I've used it multiple times and all is well, the hose can kink up sometimes and as it's my first hose can't say if this it's 'kinkier' than other hoses, at the end of the day it's hardly the end of the universe, just un-kink it.

Product does the job when you eventually stem the leaking ...
Product does the job when you eventually stem the leaking from the joint where the hose attaches to the centre of the unit...To be frank the leaking was my fault, but the instructions don't make it 100% clear how to correctly fit the helical spring into the hose before attaching to the centre joint. The spring is there to reinforce the hose and stop it kinking as it navigates its way tightly into the centre of the reel. There is a hook on the end of the spring suggests it hooks onto something, and the only thing it can hook onto is the end of the hose itself! And there lies the problem, which is most likely the same problem every one else who has complained about leaking...With the spring inserted into the hose and the hook hooked over the end of the hows, when the hose then gets fitted to the centre joint, a tight seal can never be obtained because the hook is in the way - hence the unit leaks all over the place from the seal...So, you insert the spring into the hose with an inch protruding (including the hook) - bring the hose up to the joint and insert the hook into the centre of the joint - then fit the hose to the joint so that the spring (hook and all) sits completely inside both the joint and the hose.(Simple really)

Let it Sprinkle...
Decent hose for your gardening needs, supplied with all fittings, nozzle & 49 feet of hose pipe. The instructions are somewhat vague.1st thing unravel and take off the hose and cut enough off to attach to the tap which then connects inside the centre using 2 of the push connectors supplied. ( 1 for the tap the other for the reel)2nd place the reel onto the area you want the reel to hang and mark your 3 areas for drilling. Drill and plug the holes and screw in the screws supplied not all the way until you've positioned the reel.DO NOT remove the white connection on the reel..just push in the spring, hook down inside the white connection then guide the hose through desired side/slot you want the hose to be reeled in from guiding your hose over the spring already in place and connect the hose to the white connection and tightly fasten the plastic nut.3rd place the reel onto the screws and tighten up to your screws. Then reel in the hose and attach the end of the nozzle. If you want the guide fitted....same procedure with marking up & drilling/plugging, fastening up where you feel comfortable for direction & access.I placed mine vertical as it was more practicable, also fitting it higher than the reel so not to be pulling hose pipe & dragging it across all the potted plants.I think a lot of complaints on leaking is caused when they remove the white connection with the two screws!..DO NOT do this or you'll break the seal.Hope this helps 😊

No nonsense wall mounted hose
Having had a floor based hose reel for over 20 odd years the time came for a wall mounted replacement. I did try a Hozelock auto rewind model that I returned after a month of frustration with it not always working very well. This much cheaper model has been flawless. Straightforward to assemble and mount thanks to the helpful Hozelock videos illustrating the process. The only issue I had was deciding which way around to fix the feeder mechanism - horizontally, as in the photos, or vertically. Learning the hard way, I found it better to fix the feeder vertically, a short distance to the side of the hose feed from the reel. I now have the no nonsense, easy to use wall mounted hose reel I always wanted without the temperamental and expensive auto-rewind alternative.
