I have an IRLP node with a 12V lithium battery for backup should the power go out and I needed a charge controller as the DC in I have is about 20V, which is naturally too high to simply directly connect. This controller is exactly what I needed. It will do SLA, flooded and lithium chemistries, you need to select type of battery manually, and you can dial in what charge voltage you want, in my case, according to the battery I have connected, it wants to see 14.4V. You can set up the LCD readout to display what you want for the most part and it has performed flawlessly since I have had it. The instructions are fairly clear on what you need to do to set it up and it actually is pretty easy. It has worked well during outages, switching from the input source to the battery is seamless. I am very happy with this controller and have already recommended this brand to my friends that were looking for one for their various reasons.

From my initial internal review and power up, devices seems good value. Board is conformally coated, giving some protection from excessive humidity and corrosion. All negative terminals are bonded together proving Negative Ground. GEL is the most useful mode, as it will not EQ, and voltages remain OK... Boost will aggressively charge the battery 14.2, and float is 13.8V. Note that the Lithium voltage is adjustable, so if you simply want to set a fixed voltage without any temperature compensation, you can. This unit will also control a night light, including a fixed time of operation (say 4 hours after dusk) then turn off to save the battery for the next day and to reduce battery wear. Unit shuts down output at low battery voltage. For hackers that want access to the RS232 port, search for ROVER MODBUS.DOCX for the published modbus registers. Despite the manual mentioning temperature compensation, there is no sensor input, so it isn't clear if an on-board sensor drives this feature, or it is missing (I'm OK without it).

The unit looks clean and charge is my batteries but when I turn the load on from the unit it goes through a strange on off cycle for 30 seconds before full power is initiated The unit looks clean and charge is my batteries but when I turn the load on from the unit it goes through a strange on off cycle for 30 seconds before full power is initiate. I also doesn’t like the immediate hydra from my diesel heater it thinks it short circuits and has a little freak out this is extremely problematic and all other solar chargers worked fine
