My five-year-old son is obsessed with dinosaurs, and even though we have not let him watch the Jurassic Park/World movies because we’re worried about them being a little too violent and being worried about getting eaten by a dino, he still is very familiar with the concept of the series. He has a Jurassic World tee shirt that is his favorite, so we were positive that this Jurassic World Mega Destroys action figure would be a huge hit, even if it did nothing at all.But fortunately for him, this dino does quite a it. It has articulated (bendy) joints in the legs, arms, and the dinosaur’s tail, and the mouth opens and closes, so my son can pose and move the body. There is also a cage on the dinosaur’s head and a button to press which breaks it out of its cage and opens its mouth.We also love that Mattel has spent a lot of effort putting a high level of detail into these figures. The dino has leathery looking skin, spikes the whole way down its back, etc. and a terribly fierce overbite with lots of sharp looking teeth. The coloring is also beautiful with six distinct bright colors being used on the body.We like that Mattel has made a range of different plant and meat eaters, so you can collect a few different dinosaurs to either hang out together if they’re more peaceful herbivores, or kids can have them attacking / defending themselves.We also like that there is a mobile app which you can scan your dinosaur’s body to get facts and sounds of what experts think the dinosaur was like.We feel it’s sturdy and will hold up well. It would make a great gift. We’ll definitely be ordering more fo this series.
