Exellent Tortilla Press
Elegance in life is exactly as represented in their description of this press. It is not a thin, lightweight press, but very, very sturdy cast iron. It arrives with the handle off and is very easy to assemble. The surface is coated so the tortilla will not stick, and the 7.3" size is perfect. This press is worth every penny you pay for it, and the seller is honest and ships on time as well. This will be around in my kitchen for a very long time.

Easy and sturdy tortilla-making fun!
I bought this after trying to roll my own tortillas with a rolling pin. That was a disaster. This press is so simple but AMAZING! So fast and easy to use. Seems to be pretty sturdy, no issues. Highly recommend!

Does the Job, but Feels Flimsy
I like this press. For the price it is seasoned, heavy, and presses tortillas well. But, it feels flimsy and like I will break it if I push too hard. I know..cast iron..who breaks that. We will see. Overall happy with the purchase.

Thick, durable, and heavy
This press is so heavy that dragging it across my counter scratched it, so I now keep a pad underneath it. The hardest part about this item is figuring out where to keep it, due to the handle that sticks up.The coating has chipped just a little but it hasn’t bothered me because I use plastic on the surfaces. There may be a quality issue for the finish if you don’t plan on using anything over the metal plates.I can see how people may break the handle while trying to get the masa thinner, but you just press it and then turn it 90 or 180 degrees, then press again. You don’t have to put a whole lot of weight on it; just press, turn, and press again. It makes it more round by doing that, anyway.I’ve made several batches of tortillas now, and I’m very happy with the purchase. This is cast iron so it will break. Don’t force it to try to make a thin tortilla with a single press and you’ll be fine.

Never recommend. Waste of money
I thought it will be good but when I tried to make tortillas it’s not at all working. Need to put more energy even though unable to make tortillas. Tried returning but the seller said can’t handle the shipping charges. Changed my mind not to return because the shipping charges will be same as product price. Using the product as paper weight. Never recommend this to anyone. Not at all happy with this. I bought other one in nearby Indian store which is far better than this. And the handle is also not in good condition. Don’t waste your money on this. Better to try buying in nearby stores.

So Far, So Good!
I tried out my new Cast Iron Tortilla Press the other day, and I have to say....I love it! Easy to use, makes tortillas as flat as you want them to be, depending on how much pressure you apply. Made some delicious corn tortillas using Maseca Instant Corn Masa Flour. I mixed up the dough, let it sit for about 15 minutes, then rolled it into golf-ball sized balls, folded a piece of parchment paper and put the ball between layers, pressed, with the Tortilla Press until they were very thin. Gently peeled away the paper and fried each tortilla until it was slightly browned, and voila! (Or perhaps I should say, "Ole!") A nice, warm, soft, street-taco-style tortilla. They were excellent for fish tacos, but equally as delectable the next morning as a breakfast addition with a little butter and cinnamon/sugar, heated in the broiler oven. Oh, and it's also just fun making your own tortillas. Next time I think I'm going to try using my new gadget to make some fried pies. Glad I made this purchase!

Tortilla Thickness an Issue
I returned this item as it has one flaw in my opinion. As you press down to flatten the masa ball it is difficult to judge when to stop. If you keep pressing down the resulting tortilla is paper thin on one side and thicker on the other. What it took to make an even thickness tortilla was too much trouble for me. I thought of placing a small "stop" screw on the platter opposing the hinge but decided it should have come with one already and that the problem was poor design. I am sure if one used it on a regular basis they could learn how to get good results but that shouldn't be necessary.

Just what I wanted
First, unfortunately this product is made in China - which I did not realize until I received it. However, it's very sturdy cast iron, is fun and very easy to use and makes great tortillas. I put my ball of tortilla dough between two pieces of waxed paper to avoid sticking to the press, rotate the waxed while pressing gently and the tortillas turn out perfectly round and of uniform density. I'm very happy with my purchase.
