The book arrived in a timely manner. It was in excellent condition. This was a book that was read to me as a child.

Better to be out of print!
My wife had a copy of the original book and shared it with our children. We bought this edition for a grandson and were very, very disappointed. The lack of the hole through each page--a signature characteristic of the original edition--was not nearly as bad as the faulty printing/page assembly which resulted in the illustrations being out of sync with the verse.Don't waste your money on the Dodo Press paperback version.

So cool and so silly
My sister wanted these books that my mother had (Mom's were the originals). So cool and so silly. Fun to enjoy. Adults or kids.

Fun even today
This oldie goldie book is hilarious and then again shows many diverse families on different levels of the apartment building when the rocket mistakenly takes off through their homes. We have read it again and again and my son even took it to school and had an uproar :)

Product was fine, shipped fine but I just did not care ...
Product was fine, shipped fine but I just did not care for the book. I have " The Hole Book" and this is just an ever so slight variation of that idea. Much like watching two movies where just the characters names have been changed but everything else is the same. I expected more changes, and maybe even improvements.

Expected something different
I was disappointed in this book. I expected it to more closely resemble the original book, which was the first of its kind in that it had holes through the pages marking the path of the rocket up through the building. While the illustrations were authentic-looking, it isn’t as engaging without the holes through the pages.

Oldie but goodie.
One of the first creatively formatted books. Old but still a good read.

An excellent reproduction of Peter Newell's classic
Peter Newell illustrated many books in the early 1900s, including Alice in Wonderland and a series by John Kendrick Bangs (an author popular at the time, forgotten today). But he really made his mark with three books that appeal equally to children and adults -- The Hole Book, The Slant Book and The Rocket Book. Tuttle Publishing has done a remarkable job of reprinting The Rocket Book (the original was 1912), printed in Malaysia with good reproductions of Newell's art (one painting on every second page), in black and white with a different added colour (green, yellow, blue) depending on the illustration. The idea is that Fritz ("the janitor's bad kid") has set off a firework, which then shoots up, floor after floor, speeding through floors, bathtubs, goldfish bowls, the lot. A real hole has been punched through the centre of the book (as in the original) to trace the firework's trajectory, and Newell tells of its progress in amusing four-line verses ("Just then, up through the silverware/ The rocket thundered, flaring!/ The Burglar got a dreadful scare;/ Then out the door went tearing." The book has a sturdy hard cover with a facsimile of the original cover.

Excellent
This book is not much expressive but it is mindblowing experience of reading. When i started with this book, at that time only i thought that this would be an amazing experience.

the rocket book
I enjoyed this short book, which is written like a childs poem, there are so many observations which are so true as each floor is passed through. Thoroughly recommend anyone to read this, it is truely lovely.
