The Hole of Tank Girl

Suitable for reading or self defense and surprisingly resistant to bloodstains.I have been a fan of tank girl for a long time and this is a great collection of the early stuff.

I just received my copy of this masterpiece.I thought it would be about 50 slick pages long with stuff I had already seen but I still couldn't pass up the opportunity to get all of my favorite Tank Girl artwork in one place.I have misplaced and replaced many of my old TG comics and this was my opportunity to fill in the blanks and get some bonus sketches.I didn't count the pages but it must be over 200 heavy weight paper slicks, hard bound, with a dust cover and hard slip case! It even appears to be hand signed (it came wrapped in cellophane so it had to be signed before packaging).The print is dense, much heavier than the comic books in the news stands. It looks like the UK only material is in here because there are dozens of pages I have never seen before.Get over the sticker shock because this thing is worth more than the retail price and I already see used copies available at over $150.00.I am a hard core TG fan and I would not give up my copy for signed original artwork. Not that I wouldn't want some but this book is by far the best thing Hewlett and Martin have put together in my opinion.Now I have a complete collection of artwork so I can really pick the best piece for my Tank Girl Tattoo. I've been waiting years for this.Thanks Alan and Jamie. If I was a billionaire, I'd send you pizza and beer for the rest of your lives!

Bought this for my wife for our 1-year (paper) anniversary. She's a big Tank Girl fan, and this thing is amazing for any fan! There are tons of extra artwork, sketches, explanations, etc... Plus all the actual comics. It's HUGE and well worth the money, especially at the $75 I caught it at. She absolutely loved it!

Ich bin seit einiger Zeit ein Fan der in deutschen Landen eher unbekannten Abenteuer der Heldin (?) Tank Girl, einer von Alan Martin und Jamie Hewlett erdachte Antithese zu anderen weiblichen Comicstars wie Wonder Woman, Supergirl oder Poison Ivy. Wer selbstlose Weltrettung, lächerlich übergroße Brüste und hautenge Latexkostümchen mit Cape erwartet, wird maßlos enttäuscht werden - Wer jedoch seine Freude an scheinbar sinnlosen Akten der Gewalt, des Wahnsinns und der Trunksucht hat, für den ist die gestiefelte Titelheldin genau die richtige Empfehlung. Es werden Panzer gefahren (surprise, surprise!), Ärsche getreten, Banken ausgeraubt, Kängurus geknutscht und ganz nebenbei werden auch noch der Jungbrunnen, The Doors und ein homosexueller Plüschkoala in die anarchistischen Abenteuer von Tank Girl integriert.Die Ausgabe "The Hole of Tank Girl" beinhaltet die Originalreihe des von Hewlett und Martin zusammen kreierten Tank Girl-Comics, die von 1988 bis 1994 lief, sowie zusätzliches Artwork, Konzeptzeichnungen und Blicke hinter die Kulissen des berüchtigten Tank Girl-Films, eine zusätzliche Story und ein langes Interview mit den Schöpfern von Tank Girl. Für die Umschlagsgestaltung war der "Gorillaz"-Zeichner Rufus Dayglo, der schon diverse andere Tank Girl-Geschichten illustriert hat, verantwortlich. Das großformatige Kaffeetischbuch kommt in einem schützenden Schuber, der in jedem Buch- / Comicregal eindrucksvoll aussieht, und hat selbstverständlich einen Schutzumschlag (unter dem nebenbei bemerkt noch mehr fantastisches Artwork zu bewundern ist). Jede Ausgabe wurde zudem von Jamie Hewlett signiert.Das Papier ist qualitativ hochwertig und glatt, die Comics sind jedoch nicht durchgehend farbig. Das stört bei Hewletts grandiosem Zeichenstil allerdings nicht weiter.Kurz und gut - für Fans der Serie ein must-have. Leser, die mit den Arbeiten von Hewlett und Martin noch nicht vertraut sind, sollten allerdings darauf gefasst sein, dass der Text besonders stark mit australischem bzw. britischem Slang durchsetzt ist. Besonders deutlich in den Storys "Welcome to Bell's End" und "The Fall and Rise and Fall and the Ship in the Bottle". Kenntnisse im british english sind daher von Vorteil. Nicht zwingend nötig, aber auf jeden Fall für zusätzliche Unterhaltung sorgend ist außerdem ein Fundus an Wissen rund um britische Rockbands und Fernsehpersönlichkeiten der 80er und 90er, die oft auf die Schippe genommen werden.'Ne Wucht, in jeder Beziehung. Taugt auch als Hiebwaffe gegen Einbrecher.

Tank Girl-Fan bin ich nun schon etliche Jahre und etliche Jahre bevor Jamie Hewlett durch die Gorillaz bekannt wurde. Nur hatte ich nie die Comics gekauft (Es war das Zeitalter des Alles-Im-Internet-Machen :)) Doch digital Comics lesen bringt ehrlich gesagt nicht die Genugtuung die gutes, haptisches Papier bereiten kann.Aber zum Punkt: Dieses Buch ist für Hewlett-Fans DIE Bibel. Ich hätte nicht geglaubt, dass es tatsächlich die Maße und das Gewicht eines Lexikons oder ähnlichem hätte. Etwas mehr als A4 und eine Dicke von gut 3-4 cm bringt das gute Stück mit - und man weiß sofort, dass die rund 73 Tacken super investiert sind!Zum Inhalt kann ich noch nicht einmal viel schreiben, da ich ehrlich gesagt nicht über die ersten 3-4 Strips hinweg bin. Aber beim erstmaligen Durchblättern und "Neu-Geruch" genießen haben schon einige Seiten meine Neugier entfacht und ich bin sicher, das Ding wird so schnell nicht verstauben!
