Depraved 3 by Bryan Smith......... Was it as good as Depraved1 ?
Bryan Smith has a very entertaining way of writing grest sized novels and keeping your attention with each page, anxious to turn the page and to see what will happen next. All the characters in each of the books are "Depraved", lol. The details of the depraved actions are truly kept to a minimum letting your imagination fill in any parts you feel are missing. HIs stories in these novels are full and fulfiilling, giving you enough information but not over doing it.Jessica Sloan returns however, this time she is in Prison 13, a prison reminisent of Germany in WWII. Complete with authentic pictures of concentration camp prisoners, guards dressed as SS soldiers, complete with a nurse that likens Mendele. Tortures only sadists would take pleasure in and yes, even an oven.Jessica knows that she can't remain there any longer than she absolutely has too. The prison is run by a shadow group, very few know who some of them are. You can end up there for any reason, anyone you know may have the pull to send you there whether for cheating on your spouse or plain old murder. Jessica will do anything to escape the horrors happening inside the walls of this prison. We also catch up with Helga Von Trammpe and Vivian Ice (Megan, Helga's old torture buddy, the other half of The Touture Twins). Except things from the past had dramatically changed their relationship, not for the better.Being that this story is based in an all women's prision the language and acts writiten in the story are comparative to the surroundings. Meaning the language and acts can be offensive, if that is something that yoou think would offed you do NOT read this book.Other than that, if you're curious about what happens in the ongoing adventures (lol) of Jessica Sloan then by all means read this and judge for yourself.Thank you for reading my review, I hope it helps.

The Depraved series ROCKS!
This series is a continuously evolving story and I am here for it. Every time I think I know what is going to happen next, I am proved wrong. Starting book 4 now!

Weakest In The Trilogy
2 AND 1/2 STARSReading this next book in author Bryan Smith's hardcore horror series, I immediately felt out of place, like perhaps he took the characters from his previous books and shoehorned them into another setting in an attempt to merge them together into a story. After finishing the book with its disappointing ending, I discover in the author's afterword that he did exactly as I had assumed.Smith readily admits wanting to recreate the WIP (Women In Prison) exploitation films of the 60's and 70's and translate that into a novel. And while I enjoyed the book for what it was, he virtually added nothing new to the subgenre, something I had thought for sure he would have done with ease, especially knowing his prior work. Unfortunately, we get scene after scene of mildly violent clichés with predictable outcomes in a very unrealistic setting. This was a big disappointment for me, especially since Depraved 2 was one of my favorite books of the year, even better than the original. Author Smith mentions at the end of this book that he is planning a part 4 somewhere down the line. I just hope he returns to what made the series great in the first place.

Exactly the dark horror promised
Story is dark. Not for the faint of heart. Jessica Sloan is still managing to stay one step ahead of those that want her dead and gone. I’m still rooting for her.

Good read
The look on her face was sincerity itself, but something about the expression felt a little too studied. A little too…precise. The look on her face was a mask. She was hiding something, but this in itself wasn’t sinister. It might only be that she already had a strong inkling regarding what her boss was about to say.

Oh.... thank you, thank you, thank you
Now that, my friends, is what I call a kickass sequel. Mr. Smith took the Depraved series into a totally new direction and I loved it. It was a turn-the-page-as-fast-as-possible-to-find-out-what-will-happen-next kind of book. So much fun! The only part I had a problem with was the ending. It just felt like too quick of an implausible ending. I mean, c'mon now, the nurse, Livia, makes it to the escape and gets a bullet to the head. This monster of a woman deserves more of a torture of a lifetime. Jessica, on the other hand, ends up in a hole. Oh well... I can still hope for a unique sequel!!!

or better said is what I couldn't bring myself to read
What I did read was enough to keep me interested. What didn't read, or better said is what I couldn't bring myself to read, was the torture. The scenes were too much for me. It scares me to think there are people out there that enjoy this and get off on it. Page after page. Simple skipped them. Way over the top.

OK
It was ok, a little repetitive at times but overall pretty decent. Will definitely check out more from the author.
