Ballet Class Coloring Book (Dover Kids Coloring Books)

I ordered this coloring book for my 3 year old as her toddler ballet instructor hands out pages of this book to the children after class and my daughter gets so excited.While my daughter does enjoy looking at and coloring in the book, I do think this is a beautiful coloring book for an older child as there is a lot of text explaining the pictures and various elements of ballet, all of which is too much for a young child to appreciate. (As a non-dancer, I have learned a lot from reading this material!)

I got this coloring book for my 11 year old niece who is on a dance team and takes lessons. I expected this to just be pictures similar to the front cover, but when I got the item I was beyond impressed. There is a lot of information about what is being pictured and my niece really enjoys reading all the information about ballet and the poses.

The pictures are unappealing. There is too much verbal description about each picture.

My 4-year old grand daughter loves this coloring book. She is carful to stay in the lines. Each page has at the bottom a prescription of the dance position. It's a real vocabulary dancing tool with excellent picture positions. It is a brilliant idea to make a book out of it.

There's just too much of the same from page to page, maybe a good metaphor for the clinical precision of the discipline, yet, it's a coloring book for kids folks, so let's make it FUN!!!

My granddaughter 5 goes to ballet and was thrilled with this. She had taken her time with lost of different pink pencils and done a good job.

Great illustrations for the ballet moves, the only one that I did not loved is the foot position, while it does describes the correct foot position there simpler way to illustrate the position of the feet, and the small space it uses to illustrate it does not account for the importance of correct foot placement, which is a key part to prevent injuries in the future. However, this book is not met to represent a ballet class, the rest of the illustration do match precisely the correct position from the ballet. I recommend it for small children onwards.
