I found the book very helpful & I will always respect people with guns & authority but I would use the info learned in this book and the DVD "Busted" to protect my legal rights..I found the Cherry Pie Three case example disturbing because they got 6 months jail for throwing a pie at someone AND the jury didn't want to convict them but was told they had no choice by the judge. People should learn more about the constitutional right to reject a law if they do not believe in it. However, prosecutors would use jury selection to eliminate law smart people and replace them with people who failed to get out of jury duty to begin with. I can also see why the police often jail mentally retarded and uneducated people because they are easy targets with police interrogations.

Awesome book for street greenhorns. ****
Great book for people who don’t know the law that well. Very simple situations and skits in comic form. Also has example court documents. This book won’t help you become El Chapo, but it will make you grow a pair when police decide they want to harass you for no reason.

I was disappointed. The disc would only play on my computer: the DVD player didn't recognize it. I thought that the law professor's You Tube video on not talking to the police was more valuable.

this is a great book about how to handle real life encounters with police. the different scenerios based on what not to do, the simple ways to avoid making things worse, and the re-do if you could go back are great ways to prepare yourself and a fantastic way to layout a book on street law. Everyone should read this book, it will keep you out of jail.

beat the heat
Really appreciate the ease of read for this book. Lots of examples. I really, really appreciate that each example situation ends with the positive, with what you want to do, so that is what stays in your brain. Since anyone can be wrongly or mistakenly stopped/accused I recommend this book to all.

Know your rights!
This is a really important book. The author has a clear and engaging style, and she's particularly good at using real-life examples to illustrate her points. The first chapter alone is worth the cover price. Essential information.

Know And Protect Your Rights With This Excellent Book!
This is one of the very best books that I have ever read. The author of the book has done a great service to a lot of people in writing this book and should be thanked very much. She truly cares about people in a compassionate manner. This book has very useful information and advice in it. Some people are mistaken when they believe that an undercover cop has to admit that he or she is an undercover cop when questioned if they are. In her book, she points out that the undercover cops are legally allowed to lie when you inquire whether they're law enforcement personnel or not. She said do not wait for cops to read you your rights. Do not wait for the police to say "You're under arrest." She said to say very promptly the Magic Words "I'm going to remain silent. I would like to see a lawyer." The author points out that the best defense is a good offense. She says resist interrogation and tells you what to sign and not to sign. Her website at www.lawcollective.org mentions a lot of information that this book does. Please read this book and protect your rights! Thank you to the author of this book for writing this excellent well-written book!

Makes a handy gift
I found this book very helpful and easy to understand. It's a good resource for anyone who would like to learn about interactions with law enforcement and the court system in a clear, well-written manner. It's a short book and a short, but thorough, introduction to the topic. It includes tips on how to avoid incriminating yourself (guilty or innocent), your rights as a citizen, and how to mediate difficult or confrontational situations. The author does not use a lot of complicated legal language unless it's necessary and appropriate to do so, and even then, she fully explains new terms and ideas. Cartoons and reproductions of sample legal forms illustrate important concepts.I think this would be a great gift for a teenager or new college student-- anybody who is gaining a greater independance and who needs the tools to deal with that. Bundling this with a simple cookbook, health guide, and some choice theological or philosophical books would make a great "welcome to adulthood, here's the user's manual!" gift. It might also be a good resource for anyone beginning research into the Bill of Rights and how it's practically used.
