Is ths the best glue to fill in a gap due to a poorly made wood mortise joint? Is it better than epoxy?

I think epoxy would work better

I have not be successful with it accepting stain

Is this pva based or a remake of an older glue that contains casein? thank you in advance for your help.

I am not a chemist but...in the older days plastic resin glue which was a powder mixed with water became water proof. That product is still made but is no longer waterproof. This glue is similar to the older version with the exception it is more perishable.

What is the difference between cascamite and dap plastic resin glue?

They are both powdered urea formaldehyde resin glues that mix with water. The biggest difference I see between the two is that the Cascamite dries clear while the DAP dries to a light brown color. I chose to use the Cascamite because the glue lines are virtually invisible.
