This book gave me a good start and serves as a useful reference
This book gave me a good start and serves as a useful reference. The style is easy to understand, and the book is organized for easy use. A few explanations seem puzzling at first, but all are understandable with a little thought and cross-reference. Good examples are provided for step-by-step clarification. Overall: excellent.

Just started using, but so far so good.
I have been looking for a book that includes both Photoshop and Lightroom, but they are usually either or. So far this book has really helped me understand how the two interact. It was definitely worth getting.

A Fairly Good Resource for Integrating Adobe Photo Software
Many books about Photoshop, because of Photoshop's extraordinary complications, are awkward to read. That seems to include Adobe publications as well as others. There doesn't seem to be a structure for Photoshop that yields hierarchies or categorical treatments, so explanations tend, to me, to be haphazard and random in many respects even though many authors try hard to make it otherwise. Lightroom is a bit less complex and so some of the explanations are a little bit less random. But, this book isn't so much different from others in terms of arrangements and logical hierarchy, particularly where Photoshop is concerned. In other words, another awkward read. It's full of useful information, however, so isn't a waste of funds if you're willing to plow through. It has provided me with very helpful information; I've just had to dig for it. They provide a resource of files that you can download so that you can practice their examples: that is an excellent hands-on approach for effective learning.

The Training Is Great
This Photoshop Elements/Lightroom Classroom in a Book is the exact type of training I have been hoping would become available. Even as a hobbyist, my limited experience working with the Elements Organizer was very confusing, disappointing, and fell short of the Adobe Lightroom Photo management system for organizing my photos. I now have the use of the best of both Adobe Photo systems for my use as a hobbyist, the Elements Editor, which has great photo editing that is less complex and the Lightroom expert photo storage system. Thank you Adobe.

pretty good with some things hard to follow
Pretty good book. Some items don't flow & are a bit hard to follow. A couple things just don't make sense to me, but in general it is very helpful.

Basically Good, but vey weak on the WHY
I agree with others who say that this book/class must be assuming that the reader already know these two programs because it frequently asks you to select or click on something that it has not yet told you what the button looks like or where it is located -- wasted hours hunting for a variety of things that were sprung on the reader with no guidance. Also, after many of the lessons, I felt like I'd just been led by the hand (select this, click on that, etc.) through a recipe with little or no discussion of what I was doing or why I was doing it. I still don't know why I did what I did or when to apply it to my own photos. Basically good, but need s a LOT more work if it is to truly accomplish its purpose for the beginner.UPDATE: Upon further reflection, I'd like to change my review to two stars, at most, or perhaps more suitably only one star. This instructional book is really not worth your time plowing through it unless you are already quite familiar with both Lightroom and Photoshop -- especially Photoshop -- not to mention all the frustrating time spent frequently paging back and forth trying to find where some new "button" or terminology that was just sprung on you was already introduced, when it actually hadn't already been introduced yet or located for you. I have since found a number of other instructional sources (including Adobe's free on-line video tutorials) that actually DO tell you in the beginning what the controls are and where they are located before talking about them in the course of performing some complex operation. This book is a great concept poorly executed -- please completely revise and revamp it if you intend it to be for the beginner or those with little previous familiarity with the programs.

Great book. I always had a problem understanding the back and forth between Lightroom and Photoshop but the author does a great job explaining it and demonstrating how things work. This alone was worth the price of the book to me but the remainder of the book is equally good.

Find a better book to learn Lightroom and Photoshop especially if you ...
Very poorly done. I got it for a Lightroom and Photoshop course and even the instructor has a hard time using it. It has numerous errors and is not up to date with Lightroom and Photoshop CC. It provides no background or overview information to help you get started with either program. Luckily I am familiar with Lightroom, but not Photoshop. You will need a magnifying glass to decipher some of the screen shots. You will also need to know where Photoshop tools are, because this book will not help you find them. One of the tools referenced in the book (I forget which) is no longer in the Photoshop toolbar by default. You have to figure out how to add the tool to the Photoshop toolbar, because this book does not tell you how. Find a better book to learn Lightroom and Photoshop especially if you are a beginner.

I got this from the Library when it first came out and was impressed with it. It's as good as I remembered it. Good value.
