Q: would it look good as a charger plate?

I think it depends on the size of plates you are using on top. I ordered 12 slices and they were all about 1 " thick and 9-10" in diameter. With a smaller sized plate, I think they would look great!

Q: What is the average size of the wood slices that you received when you ordered them?

9 inches in diameter. I used them as the base for centerpieces on tables at a reception. I cut out a 9 inch paper circle and decorated them before I ordered to make sure they would suffice. I love the rustic look of them! These are cut from a tree so they will not be perfectly round.

Q: Are these basswood or birch wood? The description says birch, I want to make sure that's not what we're ordering.

I did not receive birch. I’m not sure what the wood is, however I do know it is not birch bark!

Q: How are the sliced logs preserved during mailing?

They were not preserved. I polyurethaned some and stained others. Came wrapped in paper and rough cut but I truly like them. They are a great accent.
