Works well for my (unconventional) use
I write this review knowing that it will not be relevant to most people. I wanted something to 'cut' woven weed control membrane/landscape fabric as using a knife or scissors leads to a frayed edge which then continues to fray even more. I have used a needlepoint blowtorch in the past but I find the fine point on this to be excellent for cutting across the roll and sealing the edge as it goes along.I haven't used it as a soldering iron so cannot recommend one way or the other but if you want a simple efficient portable woven weed control membrane cutter then this worked well for me.

Great, if youre willing to modify it a bit....
Works okay if you use decent batteries, but don't expect them to last very long. Its a fine work tip as well, I wouldn't use it for anything bigger than hookup wire.I liked the size and convenience of this but not the battery performance so I ended up using a lithium battery and usb charger and now it works like an absolute dream for about an extra £4. Took a bit of hacking the casing about but definitely worth it - Ive even made a few by request for hobbyist friends! :) Charging Module - SODIAL(R) MICRO USB 5V 1A Lithium Battery Charging Module Lipo Charge Board + Protection New 2X 3.7V 18500 Li-ion LED Flashlight Torch Battery Pack RechargeableCharging Module - SODIAL(R) MICRO USB 5V 1A Lithium Battery Charging Module Lipo Charge Board + ProtectionNew 2X 3.7V 18500 Li-ion LED Flashlight Torch Battery Pack Rechargeable

NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE
Absolute waste of money. New batteries spent after 15 mins. Melts the solder, just about, but cools so rapidly nothing attache's. Better with a 12 volt supply one, or even better, mains powered, if you can connect. Don't waste your money. I would have returned it, but ran out of time when I actually needed to use it. This product wants removing from sale. It is not fit for purpose.

Utterly useless
Thought I'd take a punt given that there were mixed reviews - bad decision. Don't waste your money. It just about gets hot enough to melt solder for a nanosecond. Anything bigger than the end of 1mm solder and you'll be out of luck. The switch mechanism would make it a nightmare to use sufficiently in any case. You can't solder efficiently whilst keeping a switch pushed forward.Spend a bit more money and get a gas one.

Bought this for making holes in plastic and to use as a soldering iron outside
I have had this a few months now, and here is the review. Makes holes in plastic OK. Easy to use. It is no good for soldering outside. Just does not get hot enough. Only just works inside a warm room. I would not recommend.
