A body at rest tends to stay at rest; a body in motion tends to say in motion!
Now anyone can do yoga!I have been practicing mat yoga for 20 years, and then started teaching it almost three years ago. This summer I was asked if I would take on a chair yoga class. I was unfamiliar with this modified form of traditional yoga but as I looked into it I found it to be much more valuable and viable than it appeared at first glance. Then I began noticing people around me who would never in a million years give traditional mat yoga a try but were willing to consider chair yoga for its simplified form, which is less intimidating and more accessible to those who have injuries, who lack flexibility, who have no experience with exercise, or whose work keeps them at a desk for long periods of time."Sitting is the new smoking," the author says boldly in her Introduction. Just let that sink in and consider how sedentary our society is, at work and at rest, and it is slowly killing us. (I think of the people on the space cruiser in the movie WALL-E, whose lives were so leisurely and automated they could not function outside their hover-chairs.) You have to really make an effort to move yourself, and many of us are not inclined to break free of our entropy. This book offers a full range of modified yoga movements you can do in a chair, from very basic to some challenging moves where you use the chair to help you balance as you progress to doing the pose without the chair. The photos and explanations are all very clear, and the overall tone of the book is fun and encouraging.

Best Chair Yoga book I’ve ever purchased
I teach Chair yoga and purchased this book on March 11, 2021 to help me plan my classes. Of all my yoga books, this one, hands down, is the best resource for me. Over three years later and I’m still pulling new ideas from it. Unlike other books, the photographs and the instructions are clear and concise. You won’t find a better Chair Yoga book. I love it. I wish this author would publish more of her ideas.

Easy to use and to customize a routine for your specific needs.
Excellent source of information on exercises that almost anyone can do at home or in the office without expensive equipment or gym memberships. The layout is user-friendly and presented as routines for each section of the body that can be stretched and strengthened IAW your needs. There are descriptions and sketches of the exercises which make it easy to understand and there are routines depicted to aid in working each specific problem area of the body. The book incorporates many of the types of exercises that Physical Therapists and Chiropractors have had me do in the past few years and is a good confirmation of what I need to do to maintain a healthy and flexible body.

Very Comprehensive
I started chair yoga a few months ago & have been looking for a good companion to my practice. This is a great resource. It shows as many poses as I can think of, uses photos & illustrations, is well organized and I love the spiral binding so the book lays flat. A little on the pricey side, but glad I bought it.

Good approach to chair yoga
With chair yoga becoming more popular--and, no doubt, needed--this is a good resource for both practitioners and teachers.

This book is ok.
I guess the book is fine but I didn't like the paper.

Wonderful for Easing Back Pain
I absolutely love chair yoga to help ease pain from life-long back trouble. Kristin McGee has a practical, realistic approach to yoga and it's easy to incorporate these poses into your daily routine. Her upbeat personality comes across the pages (without being obnoxious, lol), encouraging you to experiment and improve your health, both physical and mental. The instructions are written clearly and the photos are incredibly helpful. This is not a book for hard core yoga fanatics; it focuses mainly on poses and breathing for busy, injured/infirm, older, or newbie yoga practicers. I highly recommend this book.
