Wish this was available in the 80’s
Outstanding metal to metal contact sealer. I sure had doubts though. But it turned out perfectly. No gasket required. It really doesn’t fully cure and seals out fuel like it was the plague. Woulda been a game changer in the late 70’s for me. lOl

It seems to work
I had a gasoline leak in my boat fuel tank at the fuel sensing unit despite being new with a new gasket. Gasoline fumes in a boat can be deadly, so I bought the fuel specific Permatex to resolve that issue. I was surprised to see how liquid this gasket sealant was, I was expecting more of a caulk like substance like the other Permatex gasket sealant I used in the past. I followed the instructions and thoroughly cleaned both the tank surface and the underneath of the sensing unit, let it dry a few minutes and re-installed the sensing unit. It seems to work, the strong gasoline smell is gone, the real test will be taking the boat out and see how the repair holds up when the waves move the boat aroud. Will do a follow up after wards.

It works ok, but not a permenant fix for a fuel leak.
Used to go around a can am atv fule hose fitting. Seemed to stop the leak temporarily until I could get it repaired.

outboard repair
I had an 86 mercury 7.5hp outboard that had the block marred up from a wire wheel, I wasn't confident that just a gasket alone would keep the water inside the water jacket. I looked up hylomar however I couldn't find a dealer or a cheap source. I found Permashield and decided to try it. It went on nicely however some does stick to the glove when applying. With a solvent in there, it is best to use some protection when applying or use a popsicle stick. When I finally had the motor running, the water jacket held tight. The permashield that oozed out from the sides after torquing the head down remained very thick and gel-like however it remains malleable, and that is what helps seal the imperfections. Very happy with its performance.
