They work beautifully
I am not receiving endorsement for this review.I got these little gems, connected the included batteries, and tried them out in the sink with no standing water, only water droplets. Every single one work flawlessly. They were all the same loud tone, at 100db. If you can't hear these, you have other issues and should get your hearing checked. They are LOUD. Not as loud as a smoke detector, but not far behind. You get 8, WITH batteries. They easily unscrew to access the battery compartment. Hooking the battery up was a breeze, and there was plenty of room to push the wires in that connect the battery.Buy these. You will not be sorry.

Works but should have way to check battery
I got these and 2 days later one of the toilets leaked and it went off. So I 1 works.I just have a couple of issues.1. There is no way other than getting them wet to check if they work. At some point the batteries will need changing but how will I know.2. If they are in a room with the door closed you may not hear in another room.My leak was in the master bathroom while I was sleeping. I barely heard it. Of course when I opened bathroom door it was obnoxiously loud like smoke detectors. But I think it might bebetter to buy something that lets you know battery good.Overall the price was good andI’ve already got my money.

Updated after several months use because today...
Update 5/23/2024 - as is our norm for this time of year, the water table rose enough that it began leaking into our basement. I'd placed one of the units near our troublesome west wall where it'd most likely to have issues. I was upstairs watching television when i heard it going off. I sprinted downstairs where i found water had just barely reached the unit. My older detectors would keep going off until the contact points were dry. These detectors stop sounding as soon as you pick them up as the design is different. A little thing but i prefer that aspect as opposed to the other type with metal prongs. I also was impressed by the tone and volume of these detectors. If i can hear it on the top floor while listening to a television then you won't miss the alarm wherever you are, assumingyou have a 'normal' sized home. These have the best design compared to the other units i tried out last year. All said for the money i couldn't be happier.,due to snow melting off the mountains that surround us, our sump pump runs nonstop from may through august every year.occasionally for a host of reasons the basement still gets water intrusion. when that happens I have to act quickly or a minor issue becomes a major job. that's why we rely on water 'detectors.'the ones we used the last two years were okay at first but then starting going off randomly and for no apparent reason. made worse as those were difficult to snap/pry open to stop them going off.I was very surprised and happy to find these detectors aren't a pain to open and shut. thankfully they made these with a screw on/off top! that one unique difference was much appreciated at my end.inside each was a nine volt battery. the only negative, and a minor one at that, was snapping the battery onto the connectors. it takes more force to do so than expected but that's it.on the bottom are two small protruding pin shaped bits of metal. water conducts electricity. so when you've got water on the floor, water allows current between those two and the alarm goes off.you can easily test it by touching both pins with your fingers. the alarm should then go off and you know with certainty you're good to go. FYI no worries in regards to testing like this. you cannot feel anything whatsoever when testing this way. I just find it to be a quick and effective is all.after the battery is in place and the two halves are screwed back together it's ready for use. place it wherever you want to be forewarned about water intrusion and that's it.I like these better than any we've used over the years simply because of the screw on design. granted it's early in the season but they've already gone off once. that's expected since i turn the sump off over winter and use these to know when it's time to power it up again. so, so far so good!

Cheap, Good, Simple water detectors
I love simple. I mean, I get it - people want a bluetooth, internet, cloud enabled water detector so they can get notified that their fish tank overflowed while they are on vacation in Mexico. And this is not that, but that kind of detector can often also fail to work (batteries, internet, cloud services, etc) and this kind - the Keep It Simple Stupid kind, has a place too. Many water leaks start small. And many, most, of us are home at least every day. These detectors are dead simple, just some contacts, a 9V battery and a siren.Open them up, connect the battery, and screw the lid back on (BE SURE TO LINE UP THE HOLE WITH THE SPEAKER).Place where water will someday leak, and wait. I personally set a calendar reminder for 3 years from now to replace the batteries. I do not believe these drain the battery fast at all, and decent 9v alkaline batteries last 10 years in storage, so - 3 seems about right to be safe.I have these placed everywhere I have had a leak in the past 10 years. Next to water heater, under fish tank, under sink, and under dishwasher. If I had one more I'd probably put it near the washing machine, but that usually gets noticed by whoever is doing laundry anyway.Good, cheap, Simple...

Effective
Bought this product because my basement keeps flooding due to a faulty sump pump that my land lord has yet to fix.I tested product right away and worked immediately. It’s loud enough to hear from the basement. Gives me peace of mind to catch problem before it becomes a flooded space again.

Not as loud as I want.
It works, but only if it were louder. It's already loud, but if my basement floods in my sleep I want to get the hell up as soon as I can. I intended to only use one of these and give the other to a neighbor. End up putting the two right next to each other to "increase" the volume when they touch water. If you don't screw on the cover all the way, it's louder. The cover is muffling the noise. So I screw it just enough that its closed and its at max volume.

Yes!
Have one of these by our fish aquarium and another in our storage room. They have been up and running for maybe 5 months and I went to check one today and seems to still be working great. There was a little water the other day in our storage room and it started to beep so doing its job!
