Does everything it promises at a bargain basement price.
This IR System replaced an older set-up that eventually stopped working in my dedicated Home Theater. In my setup all electronic components, apart from the projector are hidden away in an adjacent utility room. Most of my components are easily accessible via a rack that is framed into the side wall. That rack has a custom, framed print that exactly covers the glass door of the rack thereby hiding all the equipment, including their status light from view, even when the room is darkened. I added this IR System to allow me to control the components which include a Marantz AV Receiver, external power amps, two UHD Blu Ray Players, an Apple TV 4K, Roku Ultra etc. I control all these components from my seated position with a single programmable, backlit IR Remote Controller. I prefer to point my universal remote at the screen as it is more comfortable & intuitive to use it that way, relying on the IR signal to reflect off the screen onto the IR receiver. My seating distance from the screen is about 8 1/2 ft, so the IR signal has to travel 17 ft in total, with some signal loss and diffusion from the screen surface. This cheap IR repeater system was installed in minutes and did everything I wanted, working flawlessly in my demanding environment. I didn’t bother reading the instructions as my previous IR system worked in much the same manner. I have to angle the IR repeater so that it faced the screen from it’s position on top of my rack on the right, center wall. I used some black gaffer’s tape to maintain the 45 degree angle to the rack framework. I’m not sure if it’s detailed in the instructions but the IR transmitters emit the IR signal through both their front & back surfaces. So for most of my shelves I just taped the transmitters to the shelf surface and let the signal spray the IR signal up to control multiple devices with a single emitter. The attached pictures should show the installation. Everything works perfectly although I will say that my Harmony Universal Remote does put out a very strong IR signal. As with my previous SmartHome system some of the manufacturers remote need to be a little closer to the screen to get reliable operation, but fortunately my Harmony Remote makes them redundant. Yes the Roku and Apple TV come with remotes that don’t rely on line of sight IR, but they’re not backlit and I hate having to swap remotes. For reference my previous IR system set me back over $100 but that was 20 years ago. Somehow, I don’t expect this device to last that long but I give it the highest possible rating.

IR Receiver has very limited range
I am updating my review after a month of use. Seems SOME remotes have narrower IR transmission and must be well aimed while others are so wide they work great from 18' away. Cable box is very hit or miss, but AV receiver/amplifier and BD/DVD work great. Intuitively I would think the red-light end of the receiver should be pointed toward the remote, BUT NO. The top of the receiver actually seems to be the target to aim at. I had intended to mount on credenza top but that will point the receiver at the ceiling. Now have to rethink.Bought this last year but due to illness wasn't able to install until now. Works good as long as the remote is within THREE FEET of the receiver unit. I sit about 10 feet from the credenza and the red LED indicator doesn't show it receives my remote. However, when I open the door, the cable box sees it fine. Receiver only acknowledges a signal from about 3 feet away. Same with all my remotes and devices!! And it's too late to return.

Update: Product Failed. An Excellent Product...one minor hiccup in shipping of contents as described
The review below was posted last night after a successful installation. HOWEVER, the unit failed today and no amount of trouble shooting will resurrect it. Unfortunately, I will have to return it!! I have written to the sender/distributor in hopes they can provide additional trouble shooting steps. Otherwise, I will return the product at the end of the week. I note one other user reported a failure today as well.Worked right out of the box and worked well. Two observations:1) As others commented, the receiver cable is too short for most applications and I urge the manufacturer to reconsider that. I should have paid more attention to the length when ordering because now I WILL have to order an extension.2) While the system worked quite well and I'm pleased with it. However, I have noted for the seller that there were only 4 emitters in the box and there was suppose to be 5. Right now, I don't need the 5th and may never need it, but I do feel the seller should send the additional emitter in case I do need it in the future. I will note it here as to whether the seller does or not. I saw no way to contact them directly...so I posted it in the shipping comments.

Great for hidden home theater devices
Maybe I'm old school but I have quite a few home theater devices still - cable box, BluRay player, HTPC, and an amp all inside a cabinet with a shaded glass front. Unfortunately this setup requires you to carefully point the remote at the device you want to control and sometimes it doesn't register the action since the glass front reduces IR sensitivity. This IR repeater has helped drastically. I positioned the receiver right below the TV and ran the transmitters into the cabinet. The transmitters have little sticky pads to attach to the devices. The trickiest part was finding the IR receiver on some of my components. The end result has made the whole setup more reliable and usable - just point at the TV, no matter what you want to control, and it works.Best $25 I've spent in a while ;)

It Works! It Works! No more annoyhing Direct line IR pointing!
It works! Improved my IR connectivity for all around the room, I was using my Amazon Cube remote to control my Marantz AVR, the Volume conrol on the remote was a Hit & Miss, I had to be directly inline of sight and at a 30 degree, which was annoying, I was researching online specifically the problem of the Marantz AVR, and someone suggested this unit, besides it be very buzy in terms of wiring, as soon as i plugged it in and setup the IR emitter I place the IR Receiver just on the top of my AVR, and it works! No issues, I even pointed the Fire Cube remote toward the ground and the volume works now.
