Works exactly as described - Good Design
This product works exactly as described. We are using it to make a security announcement when people trespass in building garage entrance. The motion sensor works very well and the volume is easily adjustable so it can be heard, but not so loud that it bothers residents. Installation is straightforward and recharging is simple. Good solid design, too! We are very pleased and will probably buy another soon.

Automated play of messages
My primary use for this device is for holiday greetings at my front door. Updating the messages is simple enough, just copy MP3 files to the included SD card and put in the device. It has a battery pack in it that allows for it to playback without any wired connections. Not sure how long a charge would last if there is heavy traffic. It comes with a charger and cable that can be plugged in while it is installed, eliminating the concern about battery life. The volume is very good, loud!. Sound loudness can be adjusted with a thumb-wheel. The unit feels a bit cheaply made, especially given the price, but so far it performs well and is exactly what I wanted.

This was the most reasonably priced with good reviews I could find
As described. Only four stars because I had to choose between having a microphone to record messages, but battery powered vs. No microphone but plugged in outlet, which means downloading mp4 to mp3 convert app. I don't remember that being mentioned anywhere, so that was irksome. This was the most reasonably priced with good reviews I could find. I would've paid a little more for a microphone AND outlet option. But, this works well, is easy to operate and set up. Received several months ago and has been very reliable.

For fun, I connected it to a Halloween special effect ...
Arrived on date promised, Vendor delivered Documentation via email right after it was delivered. Took less than 5 min to configure and began testing. It worked as stated. I extended it to use external speakers so if anyone approaches my side gate they get a warning that they are being video taped and security dog is on premise that will attack. Side benefit is the voice draw the security dog to the gate to reinforce the message. Will look to get another one for the other gated area. For fun, I connected it to a Halloween special effect prop and the motion and sound worked great to bring it to life.

Not compatible with Apple OS/iOS - requires Windows
I don’t know how the motion detection or sound quality is (all I heard was a gravelly growl when I turned it on). But, it’s a complete non-starter for me. Sorry, but the incompatibility with Apple OS/iOS is just lame in this day and age of cross-platform development standards.

Fantastic customer service (T/S tip: remove the SD card if you have ANY problems)
Our unit worked just great for a month until the battery ran out, and then it didn't seem to recharge. Customer service was easy to contact, responded promptly, and immediately shipped a new unit out to me. After getting the new unit, I discovered that the problem wasn't with the device at all, but just a corrupted SD card.Conclusions:1. If you have ANY problem whatsoever, including an apparent dead battery (no lights or sound even when pushing the buttons), try removing the SD card if installed. Some card faults just lock up the device, but it will work fine with no card installed (using the default sounds) or with a new card.2. Even if that's not the issue, SierraTeck will have your back. I've had bad experiences with customer support from other small electronics brands, but these guys were great, following up with the support request even over a weekend. I would buy with confidence from them again. (I'm not in any way affiliated with them, just impressed.)The device itself was perfect for what I wanted--- just save .mp3 or .wav files on a memory card, and set it to either play them at random, step through in sequence (one file per motion activation event), or always play a particular file (until you select a different one). The max volume is VERY loud (but easily adjustable with a dial on the unit), motion detection works well, and you can swivel the device 360 degrees around its mounting post to aim the detector wherever you want.

It works... but not very randomly at all
Loaded it up with a massive playlist. It only plays like 3 of the songs... the same ones. I have to push the "A" button for it to ACTUALLY select a random-seeming song. The problem is that I have to do this every. single. time. All the filenames are completely generic, so it’s not some encoding issue. Please fix your randomization algorithm.

Great for holidays, Halloween, etc.
I wanted a motion activated sound player to use for our Christmas decor. It worked perfectly! I loaded up a couple holiday songs, as people walked by house, the music would play. The rechargable batteries seems to last pretty well. I might have charged it twice during the 2 weeks of use. As long as it doesn't get wet, outdoor use is fine. It has a mount that was easy to adapt to a landscape light stake so it was off the ground, but secure. Can't wait to use it for Halloween!
