This is a great notebook! The dark green color is beautiful and I love the textured feel of the cover. The elastic is strong and snug, the pages feel high quality and are thick enough that there is no bleed through even with felt and gel pens. The size is perfect for a bedside table or desk, or to throw in a tote bag. Great value for the money. Will definitely be buying this brand again!

I just received my Anecdote A5 journal notebook and I am very excited to start using it. My first impression is that it's sturdy, well made, and the perfect color. It may be made in China but it appears to be a Las Angeles based company who designed it and sells it, so at least there is some domestic benefit. This is obviously meant to compete with Moleskine notebooks. And I would say that the value of this book far outweighs the other brand. This notebook was about 20% cheaper than it's brand-name counterpart and seems to be just as good. I especially like the fabric feel of the outer cover, and I think the hard cover is thicker than the other brand. The pocket is a nice addition. I would point out that the side of the pocket is made of paper, whereas the other brand uses fabric. I'm not sure there is any benefit to one or the other, so the pocket on the Anecdote will work just fine for business cards or small notes I think. The paper is thick so bleed thoughs should not be an issue. However, I have not yet written in it. I'm still finishing my last journal. All in all a good purchase. It was more expensive than some on Amazon but cheaper than Moleskine, so I think this will be a 5-star product with a 4-star price. +++UPDATE: MARCH 2021+++ I've been writing in this book for three months and I felt I should add my opinion about the paper. First of all, I put a lot of pressure on my pen when I write and I use a G2 most of the time, which is a gel-ink style pen that tends to bleed through most paper I write on. With the thickness of this paper, I can write on both sides of the paper and there is no evidence of writing on the other side. This hardcover dotted journal has quickly become one of my go-to notebooks for everyday use. The dotted grid layout strikes a perfect balance. Guiding my writing and sketches without being as restrictive as lines or as blank as plain pages. The paper quality is solid and handles pens, pencils, and markers with minimal bleed-through. I’ve used it for journaling, to-do lists, habit tracking, and even some light sketching, and it works beautifully across all of those. The size is convenient—large enough to write comfortably but still portable.

I LOOOOVE this little notebook. I’ve been carrying it around the house with me 🤭 I’m currently using it to brain dump, write quick notes, or a to do list. I love the paper quality. It’s soft paper but with some tooth to it. I would say the paper is thicker than moleskine notebook paper but not too thick. It takes a pilot g2 gel pen really well! There is ghosting from the pen but NOOOO bleed through! My favorite! I love the blue color. It screams spring and summer! Gonna need to collect all the colors and use one for each season 🤭 the construction of the notebook it’s great too! The cover is a fabric linen feel and it’s thick and sturdy. It’s going to hold up being thrown around in my purse just fine! The binding doesn’t look flimsy either! I’ve massaged the notebook down to make it lay flat and it worked and the binding still looks perfect! Love that it comes with a pocket in the back for notes, sticky notes, or stickers. I just really love the way this notebook feels and how portable it is. I leave it on my night stand at night and take it with me everywhere during the day 😅 I won’t be surprised if I fill this baby up in a month! Honestly for 10 dollars, this is such a steal. I’ve seen poorly constructed notebooks sell for more! If you’re looking for a GOOD quality portable notebook, literally look no further. This is it!!

I chose Ink Blue and I love it! The color is so pretty and the hardcover is super sturdy, so it will hold its own in the black hole that is my purse. It also fits perfectly in my purse organizer, so that’s a plus!⁣ ⁣ I’m a list girl, so this will come in handy to keep track of what I bought for Christmas gifts this year. I tried my favorite flair pen and liked the way it wrote, without any bleeding through the next page, though you can see it slightly. The only thing I would change is the line spacing. I tend to prefer college ruled spacing vs wide rule, but that’s a personal preference. ⁣

These are my favorite journals. I’ve gone through 5 in the last three years. Highly, HIGHLY recommend for anyone who likes to use different pens and highlighters. The pages are a nice thickness, the dots are subtle, and the size fits in to almost any bag I use. The notebooks also lays nice and flat. Perfect for drawing out your own calendar.

This is a fantastic A5 journal, extremely high-quality build with high-quality material that you can feel. Bookmark and elastic band are very securely attached. Pocket at the back of the book is durable. The paper is fairly smooth, works “well” with acid free makers/pens, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, pastel, spraypaint, and charcoal. Does not work with alcohol based pens, such as Copic, alcohol based paint pens, sharpie, or fire.

The notebooks are very strong and lined paper to help me stay organised for work, travel and my every day shopping to do list.
