I bought this because my cat keeps getting up where he shouldn't (especially sitting right in front of the tv screen). I hoped this would keep him down and it does! The first time he stepped on it, he jumped a foot into the air (it was hilarious). It didn't hurt him, which I had to have, and it's kept him off the counters and tv stand. I really like that you can cut the roll into the sizes you need. The only bad thing is the pieces stay curled from being rolled, but that isn't a big deal. Love this!

Our cat likes using flower pots as a litter box. So we tried lining it with aluminum foil - the car just moved out to the side and still went potty. Then we used a clear wrap but that caused greenhouse effect and the plants started to die.This lining works great. The cat doesn't try going there any more.

So far, this thing seems to be doing the job keeping squirrels from digging up my plants. I installed some of it around a pot, but it’s very difficult to do it by yourself. Get a friend to help line it up and secure it. It’s painful to handle the mat. I recommend some gloves. I secured the mat around the pit with some zip ties. Again, hard to manage without a second set of hands. The mat is sitting very gently on the pot. I couldn’t secure it so it didn’t slide down. So, I will see how it lasts. I don’t know if the squirrels will get brave enough to jump over the mat and into the pot.The other part of the mat, I cut to the shape of the round pot and around the plant and put it in the dirt of the plant. The mat comes rolled up and does not lay flat. I’m not sure how to straighten it out so it stays put in the dirt. I tried everything to flatten it. If you put it in the dirt, it’s extremely difficult to make it fit around the plant. The plastic spikes included in the mat were useless. They didn’t hold the in place in the dirt. They kept popping up from the dirt. The dirt is soft and the spikes won’t stay in.On another plant, I made a little dome around it. Not sure how that’s going to work after it grows. By that point, my fingers hurt so bad from handling the mat and I got so tired of cutting and fitting it, that I gave up. The dome was a bad idea, too. The roll was enough for the 3 plants in the pics. Not a lot of length. But to put it around the pot, I used a lot of mat.Ease of use: very difficultEffective: so far, seems ok.Quality: ok, not great. The media could not be loaded.  Just received this in the mail, I tested out the mat to see how effective it would be and it is very prickly and painful, but since my cat has orange cat tendencies, he seems to think it’s a toy. As you can see in the video, he doesn’t seem bothered at all lol, I’m really trying to keep Bing off my counters and water jug. I will update in a few weeks to see if anything changes and if not I will likely return.Update: literally within 5minsAfter seeing others reviews and videos, I have decided to return, it seems like everyone is finding out that this item does not work for cats, AT ALL. Advertisement should be for keeping unwanted guests away from your home.

Even though its a great idea and well built , my cat was not deterred by this product and still climbed into my blinds.
