Great Knife
It is true that you need a certain amount of manual dexterity to open and close the body of this knife. If you feel that you are and manual klutz, then pick another knife. When opening and closing this knife, it is essential to lay it on its side with the screw up. Unscrew the screw and lay it someplace safe, and then gently pull the upper half towards the back and up until it detaches. Use care when changing the blades. Keep your fingers away from the sharp sides.Everything about changing the blade can be done gently; if you have to use force than the knife is probably defective. The blade itself has 2 notches. Take the blade carriage out of the knife, and lay the blade into the carriage, starting with the sharp side going in. The right-hand notch on top should mate with the tab on the blade carriage. Once the blade is laying flat inside the carriage, gently place the carriage into the bottom half of the knife, in a position that is all the way retracted. Gently wiggle it until it is laying flat inside the base of the knife. To install the top of the knife handle, tilt the blade end down a little bit and slide it into the notches on the base, then lay the handle down flat. The handle should be fully assembled at this point with this group holes on both sides aligned so that you can just screw the screw back in and have your knife fully reassembled.I got one of these knives years ago and it has stood up well to time. The mechanism that moves the blade in and out loosens up with time and becomes easier to use. It is rugged and the bright color makes it easy to distinguish, and I like the fact that you can put some extra blades in the handle.Recently, I decided to buy a couple more of these from Amazon. One of them worked just right, but the other one jammed when I tried to move the blade in and out. I had to send it back for a replacement, and the replacement work just fine. I am a little disgruntled about the fact that one of them was malfunctioning. I think Stanley workmanship has gone downhill. Nevertheless this is a good knife.

Good basic utility knife
Good basic utility knife. Rubber inserts on the side aid in grip when wet. Extra blades can be stored inside the handle (knife comes with two blades). This is probably obvious, but you do need a flat blade screw-driver to open the handle to change the blades. Knife is made in China.

Handy And Grippy Utility Knife
One can always use a utility knife around the house, and this one is well-made.This is a nice yellow and black utility knife by Stanley. The outside is a yellow coated metal exterior, with black rubber on both sides to help you grip it and to prevent accidental slippage when in use.To set up the blade for the first time, you will need a screwdriver to unscrew the one screw in the middle. Open it up and you will see three no. 11-921 blades included on the right. Take one out and place it on the left side just under the release button, it should fit in place. Close it back up, and screw the screw back in and you're set to go.The button at the top locks into three positions. Push it down and move it to one of the three positions. You will know the blade is secure in its position when you feel it lock in place. When the blade gets dull you can open it back up and flip the blade to the other side. With three total blades and two sides each, you get the equivalent of six blades. At the end of the knife, there is a hole should you want to hang this on a wall.I love Stanley's yellow and black color scheme and branding. The yellow indicates it could be a dangerous device, and to use caution. It's bright to see if it gets lost in a box of tools. And the color immediately lets you know this is a Stanley tool of some kind. It's a smart color for tools. This is a useful product for all your heavy-duty cutting needs around the house. Recommended.

Excellent Utility Knife
This is the best utility knife I have ever owned. Recently I decided to spend a little more on a replacement after running into typical retractable utility knife issues—blade slipping, front opening under pressure, blade slider mechanism catching or slipping off track during use, frustration while opening and closing—and I don't regret it. This Stanley utility knife does not have those problems. Beyond that, this knife is high quality, easy enough to disassemble and reassemble, and the rubber grips hold together and make the knife easier to hold securely.

Thicker than the classic stanley cutter, but safer to handle. Still needs improvement in the blade changing system.
I bought this because I thought i lost my old stanley gray metal boxcutter.I like the bright yellow hi-viz case; it's too easy to lose the gray cutter in the clutter.Yes, like others said, stanley has NOT improved its blade replacement system. It's still fussy, time consuming, and a little like assembling a watch. But it works. This is thicker than my old cutter, and it sticks a little in my pocket, due to its grippy black rubber panels. But those panels are more than worth it in grip enhancement. The body is thicker than the classic stanley, which makes it easier to use in the hand, but bulkier in the pocket.I would buy again.

love it!
This baby is the real deal. I wanted one like my dad used to have, but this is much better. Great grip, decent weight and the yellow is nice. Might get more as gifts.
