SourceOne 1 Sheet - 1/2" Clear Acrylic Plexiglass Sheet 12" x 12" HEAVY DUTY : desertcart.in: Industrial & Scientific Review: Cons: 1).The plexiglass sheet I received is actually 11-7/8” to 11-15/16”, as several reviews have stated. It is certainly not 12” square. That didn’t make a huge difference to me other than making for more complex measurement calculations for my intended purposes, but I can see how for some it could create an issue. Know that before buying it. 2.) Product does come alone in a cardboard box. Mine did. I didn’t buy any additional items in the purchase, so other items may be combined if more are purchased. 3.) While not specifically exclusive to this item alone, this material can be somewhat difficult to cut or drill if the right tools/methods aren’t used. It isn’t obnoxiously hard, but it is dense (if that makes any sense). Sharp cutters and drill bits are a must. Slower speeds will cause chipping, while speeds too high can cause moderate melting. Finding the right tool to modify is essential. Oh, and wear a respirator if cutting or drilling it. Milling this stuff stinks. I don’t think the off gas or sawdust from milling it is harmful, but the odor of the milling process is worth wearing protection alone. Pros: This product is amazing. Too many positives to list numerically. Although I haven’t measured it’s thickness with my calipers, it appears to be spot on at 1/2” thick. It’s super robust and seems to be amazingly strong. It comes with a sticker backed/adhesive backed thick paper film on both sides. This was beneficial for moderate scratch protection prior to use or application, but I found it most helpful for marking with a pencil for alterations, cuts, hole drilling, etc, which is impossible to do with a pencil on the plain plastic, unless you actually scribe and scratch it or use a Sharpie style marker. The crystal clarity of this stuff is out of this world. More clear than ANY actual glass I’ve EVER seen. I’m actually so impressed with this product that I’m trying to think of more things I can use it for to buy more. I made a router base plate with mine and this product was clutch! It was almost like it’s the perfect material, size, and dimensions for this. I couldn’t imagine anything working better. Review: I bought this sheet to make finger ramps for my basses. The quality looks amazing, but this is the only thicc acrylic sheet I ever touched in my well lived life, I can't say if there are better ones out there. I used a hacksaw with a 32 teeth saw to cut the rough shape and I have to confess, it was not easy. But I needed to carve the top to follow the fingerboard contour (9.5") and reduce the thickness to about 3/8. I spent a whole afternoon with a brand new coarse metal file and barely removed removed any material. Then I changed to a 100 grit orbital sander. It only scratched the surface... 80 grit, nothing. So I went to Canadian Tire and bought those automotive 40 grit set for rust removal. Still not enough. So I went bac to CT and bought a 40 grit flap disc and slapped into my angle grinder. Finally I was able to finish the rough carving. At this time I realized the carving was the least of my problems... There was acrylic flakes everywhere in my office. EVERYWHERE! And the cherry on top of the cake was when I started to brush these flakes. THEY WERE FULL OF STATIC and I couldn't remove them from the surfaces. Even my walls were sparkled with acrylic dust!!! I started with a swiffer dust remover but it just moved them from one side to the other. So decided to push them to the floor and vacuum everything. I got a big paintbrush and for a while it seemed to be working. The flakes were disappearing from the surface. Then I decided to move my chair and when I touched it I realized all the dust went under the furniture. The desk, chair, my shelves... In the end what worked was push the dust to one place and pick up with my hands to drop into the trash bag. After that I vacuumed everything about 3 times, but from time to time I still feel some of them when I'm barefoot. After that was sanding (80 grit, 120, 220, 320, 600, 1000, 2000) and polishing with turtle wax polishing compound. Now I know why it costs usd 80 to get them from Reverb

The sheet arrived in good condition and seems to be high quality. However, the 12" x 12" dimensions are incorrect. It is actually 11 7/8" x 11 7/8". Thankfully, I didn't need exactly 12" x 12" but if someone else does, this will be too small. My guess is that the manufacturer is cutting these pieces from a large sheet and cutting them on the line at 12" x 12" and thereby losing 1 or 2/8" of material in making the cut.

For the purpose I needed it was great. Strong and see-through, exactly what I needed. I made a degasser that gets to -30PSI and this sheet has withstood it perfectly. But if this is going to be a gift, or a project, know that the corners may not be perfect. Mine came chipped on most of the corners.
