Zoo: The Second Season

Come Back Soon
My whole family likes Zoo, but for some reason we all agree that it's not like other series. It always seems to go away for too long a period of time at which point you forget what happened the last time. It's not like Grimm, The Walking Dead, etc. I had to watch season one in order to understand season two. Now they say season three will air this summer of 2017. Well, all I know is I'll have to watch season two all over again first before I begin season three. All in all, it's a pretty good program.

A worthwhile viewing experience
Mindful of the need to not stand still and rest on their laurels, the producers of "Zoo" took their characters - and their viewers - for an emotional roller coaster ride in this, the show's second season.I applaud their decision to be bold in their approach to character development.I just think they went a bit too far and, as a result, rather than keeping me fully engaged in the story they left me wondering how members of the team were going to survive emotionally from one episode to the next. The team dealt with - among other things - the death of one member, the addition of another, the reappearance of a father long thought dead, the radical transformation of a mother into a monster, a massive betrayal, a doomed love affair, and... well, you get the idea. The point is, at least in my opinion, that the producers chose to sacrifice story for shock value and came up short as a result. Throughout the season the emotional traumas came fast and furious but it was difficult for me to see how they advanced the storyline in every respect. For example: I get that in an end-of-the-world drama people are going to die but their deaths should move the story forward, not simply shock me.The decision to focus on shocking viewers rather than pushing the story further was a mistake, I think, because it is the story more than the characters that drives "Zoo." This isn't to say that the characters aren't important and that they shouldn't be developed. Of course they are and, of course, they should but not to the point that the season's episodes take on the look and feel of a daytime drama. Unfortunately, however, some of the episodes this season made me wonder if I was, in fact, watching a very clever science fiction adventure or "General Hospital."That said, this was still a worthwhile viewing experience with a couple of very nice twists woven into the season. The acting, even though the actors were asked to deal with some overwrought scripts, was still at a very high level. The decision, for example, to add sci-fi veterans Peter Outerbridge and Joanne Kelly as continuing characters throughout the season was, I thought, inspired. The special effects continued to be excellent throughout the season and the cinematography continued to meet the show's high standards.Overall: A 4.5-star season due more to the acting and special effects rather than the writing.

Good second season
Season 1 of Zoo, was surprisingly good with excellent acting an interesting scifi plot and great special fx.Season 2 of Zoo, was also quite good, carrying the plot successfully from the first season and adding continual suspenseful twists and turns.Season 3 of Zoo, however suffered from poor writing and plot changes. The excellent acting and special fx were still there, but at times the writing had so many holes, I thought I was watching some religious revival the plot was so holy. The writing got so bad, that by the middle of the season I was anxious for the season to just end. And, when it did it ended on a cliffhanger, and that makes me sorry I even spent so much time watching all the seasons. The least they could have done is produce an ending, at least for the fans. Of course studio's don't care about fans, only money. But it's extremely angering when studio's drop shows without at least creating some sort of ending. I mean, the writing was so awful in the 3rd season, and consequently the ratings so low, I understand why the show was not carried for a 4th season, but at least end the damn thing. But then we the viewers, can pay CBS back, by boycotting any shows created by CBS in the future!

Man on the Menu
I've been avidly following the series. The premise of animals getting tired of humans and attacking en masse includes a team that kind of falls in with one another. They form a group trying to offset and end the animal apocalypse before Mankind becomes the endangered species.

I enjoyed this second season even more than the first
I enjoyed this second season even more than the first, although like the first there was too much pointless dialogue.

Does not play in the UK
Although the write up says will not play in the UK EXCEPT with Region Free/Multi-Region player, it wouldn't actually play on my Multi Region Player.I contacted the seller to to clarify this, and they gave me an immediate refund - hence the 4 star review. I cannot comment on the DVD as - it wouldn't play. However, they did not want me to return, as involves shipping and import fees. Full marks for customer service.

Disappointing
No where near as good as the first season. Mostly it's all set on a plane which has been conveniently given to them. No continuation from first season. It's watchable but don't expect much.
