Great for DIY w/Smaller Trees
Have a 4 trunk Crape Myrtle it a relatively small yard. It had grown to around 25’ - beautiful big canopy. But too big for the area.I used this to trim it back to about 9-10’ - cutting through many 2.5” and bigger branches. The saw is heavy and not very powerful. But it gets the job done. This was a lot of branches and it did nearly all on one charge. But only does about an hour to an hour and a half into cutting. Before buying this, I returned a Ryobi to the store, because it had a fixed, angled blade and was absolutely too heavy to use while on a ladder, it would counterbalance me off the ladder. This is lighter and has an adjustable blade that can be set to straight, which is needed for vertical branches. Most hardware store units are angle only—and are really designed for horizontal branches only.Overall, it’s a good tool for this type of once every 10-15 years task. But it is heavy and lacks the power it takes for doing many 2.75-3” cuts per job.

staple item
Overall, I'd recommend this product.Pros: Battery life is great, works great at cutting down varies sizes of branches and even mid-size trees, very easy to use, like that it's adjustable.Cons: Chain slips off, (no danger) but after 20-30 minutes will need to pause and correct the chain

HEAVY-But a nice saw
This pole saw put together without the additional extension rod, is about 7 feet and is heavy. Takes a bit of getting used to and definitely use the shoulder strap. Would be nice if you could adjust the pole length to 4-5 feet, but you can't. The oil tank constantly leaks, and because of this, be sure after use to remove the cover and clean any debris that may have gunked up under the tensioner wheel is cleaned off. The tensioner wheel is a joke. I've tried for 2 days to tighten the chain with no luck, so I may have to return. I love Skil products. Very powerful, battery lasts, and you can't beat a company that backs their products with a 5 year ext warranty. I'm giving it 3 stars because of the lubricating oil leak, and the chain tension design. Go with the Skil 40 series 10" with the better tension design.

Horrible
I purchased this last year, but didn't use it until now (Should have tested it out, I know.) It was awful. It was leaking oil out of everywhere. No idea why. It was leaking out of the tank and all over the chain. It was dripping out of where the chain attaches. It is so top heavy, it's hard to maneuver. The chain broke off even when it was tightened. It was definitely not worth the money at all. It is useless and I will never use it again.

Impressed with how good this tool is
The media could not be loaded. I purchased a Green Works brand initially because they were less expensive, returned it right after opening the box as it seemed really cheap and short. Since I already use Skil cordless I decided to spend a little more to get this brand for battery compatibility. Used it to trim up an oak tree. First, this has three pieces making it longer than most, trimming up the tree used 1 1/2 batteries which is not bad considering some cuts were close to 8” in diameter. The stock blade cut through this oak tree like butter. The tool is heavy but gives you the feeling that the quality is good. The strap seems useless and should not be used IMO. One disappointment was a rivet popped out during assembly. Definitely a QC or design issue. I’d buy this tool again and would recommend to anyone else. Pictured limbs cut are probably 500 lbs or more for reference on how much you can get done on 1.5 battery charges. I used the tool for limb cutting, Skil reciprocating saw with Diablo branch blades to cut down limbs to size once on the ground (avoiding damaging the chain blade near the dirt), Fisgar loppers with the gear to make quick work of small pieces. This combination seemed ideal for my project.
