Not just for birds.
I got this for my pet rats to use. It works great for them. There's not a lot of toys for rats, but they like to forage and explore for food as well. Seems sturdy enough, we'll see if they use it for chewing, and how well it stands up to that.

Twelve talons up!
Our birds all love these. I had originally bought one, to try out, and inserted a steel 'kabob' through it - hanging it in the cage of my male Congo African Grey. He loved it, finding creative ways to remove the contents. I filled it with everything from foot toys and bird 'cookies' to pistachios in the shell along with the paper shreds that you can buy to fill Easter baskets. Both the Greys enjoy pulling out the paper and trying to remove the treats and toys. So for Christmas, I decided everyone should have their own ball, instead of rotating the one from cage to cage. They all love them, and I fill them with different things appropriate for each size of bird. They are incredibly sturdy (we've had the first one in the cage with the Greys for almost a year now). The *only* problem I have had is getting the threads lined up with screwing them back together. But the threads being so fine is part of what makes them hard to unscrew, which keeps a certain clever little female Grey from merely twisting it off for easy access to the goodies instead of working for them the hard way, so that is not necessarily what I would consider a flaw. These are one of the best toy investments I have made so far for our flock. (Each of them gives it two talons up, for a total of twelve!)

screws closed very tightly and feels sturdy. It is larger than I expected though
Well made toy, screws closed very tightly and feels sturdy. It is larger than I expected though, and the holes are rather large too, so the only treat I've gotten to work so far is (plain) popcorn. Even the largest pellets and almonds I have simply fall out, and I don't like to feed my bird too many nuts anyway. Might hold smaller bits better with some paper stuffed in, so I'm going to try that, but I imagine a lot will still fall out to the floor of his playstand or cage. I'm surprised to see other reviewers mentioning a chain as mine did not come with one; had to pull one from a different toy to hang it. Overall happy with it though and I'm sure we'll get long term use out of it. I have seen pictures of these stuffed with large hunks of veggies and greens too so I'm eager to give that a try.

Bigger than it looks on the picture - large treats, small toys and fruit chunks
It is much Bigger than it looks on the picture. This is a good and a bad thing. Good thing is that I can fit fruit, large treats and small toys in here but my African Grey usually prefers her smaller treats so the bad ting is that they fall out of tis toy too easily. My fault though fgor not checking the correct size but this is still a very good toy. If you need a play toy for larger treats small toys this is definitely good quality and I recommend it.

It's a huge hit with the bird and a good deal!
This thing is a huge hit and makes for a highly versatile toy both inside and outside the cage. The first few times I used it, I put nothing but treats in it. This created the treat-to-ball association. Now my bird will quietly spend hours looking for the treats. Maybe they're in there, maybe they're not. Who knows? No other toy has ever kept him occupied so consistently for so long and the plastic is so thick and hard that I doubt it will ever break. I think you get extremely high value on this purchase.

A Must Have for Foragers!
Awesome! If your bird loves to forage like mine does then this feeder ball is a MUST HAVE! You can fill it with fruits, nuts, or any kind of snack, along with some shredded, crinkled paper and let the fun begin! We hung one in the cage and the other one is always heard scuttling along the wood floor in the living room. It's fun to watch our bird have so much fun with it. The plastic isn't flimsy, either, which is great if your bird picks it up with his beak and tosses it around like our little guy!

Well made
It's bigger than I expected, but I have to give it credit for being sturdy device that should be very durable. The plastic and chain are substantial. On that basis I give it a 3 stars. One problem I have having is deciding what to fill it with. Shreds of paper are fine, but I want to combine some food items in it and the size of the opening slits make it hard to find anything that doesn't just fall out.

but my birds are like kids, they aren't motivated to work for most ...
The plastic is durable enough for the macaw not to break, but the treats that I had intended to use, hulled tree nuts, are too small and fall out of the slots. The pellet food I use (Harrisons) also falls out the slots. The foods that wouldn't fall out of the toy would be large pieces of fruits and vegetables, but my birds are like kids, they aren't motivated to work for most fruits and vegetables, so I am still working on that. I like that I can take it apart completely and easily to wash.

Sturdy and entertaining
My CAG loves this ball. It’s well made and sturdy. I fill it with fruit/veg and paper and he spends hours foraging in the ball. Great buy..

Quality foraging toy.
My Amazon is a 'wallflower' ie very afraid of anything new, but as this toy could be stuffed with his favourite foods he loved it immediately! I fill it up if I am going out for any length of time and it keeps him amused for hours. It is made of strong parrot proof plastic ( well Amazon proof) so I don't worry about him breaking bits off. In fact he is so focussed on the food he doesn't nibble the plastic at all. See attached photo!

Well made and does what it says
Didn't take my African Grey to work out how to get this ball apart! He has fun with it and is interested in retrieving peanuts from it. Just too clever for his own good - typical African Grey. Lots of play time though - its sturdy and well made. No sharp edges. Well worth the money.

super parrot toy. I fill it with pomegranete for my parrot and it engages her mind and body trying to work out how to get it out. she also enjoys playing with it when I put a bell of crinkle paper in it. cleans well too so messy food and can be cleaned off afterwards
