Updated review November 2019 (four stars): The most recent collar we have purchased seems to have loose wiring. If our dog shakes while wearing it, the modes change, or the collar will just turn off, and it has been this way from when we first received it. The collar also doesn't seem to hold a charge well in freezing temperatures (somewhat to be expected, but important to note for those of you who live in colder areas). I reached out to the seller/company early on to request a replacement and have heard nothing. Unfortunately, we cannot rely on this collar for safety because it can turn off without warning. It's still helpful when our dog is out at night using the bathroom in our fenced in backyard, but I don't trust it to help us keep an eye on him when he is off leash.The other three collars I have purchased have worked great, so I would still recommend these, but there may be some quality control issues and the lack of response from the seller is discouraging. Definitely test out your specific collar before relying on it for off leash safety.Updated review October 2018 (five stars): I've bought four of these collars now. We have a mostly black dog that is nearly impossible to see in the dark, so I got this collar so we could locate him when we let him out in our fenced in backyard to go to the bathroom at night. It's highly visible (but not blinding), super easy to use, and the charge lasts a long time. I ended up buying two more for my mom's dogs, and just bought a replacement for our dog (he got skunked last night and the LED collar isn't waterproof, so it didn't survive getting a bath in skunk enzyme rinse).We've always bought the green color collar based on other reviews that it's the most visible color. My mom's dogs are two different sizes (a 12 lb poodle mix and a 65 lb lab) so she didn't need different colors to tell them apart. She walks her dogs for about an hour in the morning and again at night and needs to charge her collars once a week. Our dog mostly just wears his for his nighttime bathroom let out (5-10 minutes a day), so we can go a couple months between charges. As others have said, the collar can be more difficult to see on a longer coated dog (it's not as visible on my mom's poodle as it is on our smooth coated boxer/rottweiler mix), and my mom complains that the collar just turns off without warning when the battery dies, which has caught her off guard in the middle of a walk before. This collar is not waterproof and will not survive a thorough soaking or dunk, but it has done fine on our dogs while walking in the rain. It would be really nice if there was a plug for the charging port to make it slightly more water resistant, but I find it difficult to find things to complain about regarding this collar. Prior to buying this collar, I had a little clip on LED light that we used on our dogs regular collar, but the light was less visible from all angles, our dog would find ways to chew on it, and once the battery died I had to buy new cell batteries. I love that this collar is rechargeable. The LED strip is pretty stiff, so it can be a bit difficult to adjust the size of this collar for dogs that are on the smaller end of the size range, and the plastic buckle doesn't feel as heavy duty as some, but it has been secure for the four months we have had it and has not gotten brittle or shown any signs of deterioration. For the price, it's amazing and provides great piece of mind. Definitely recommended!In regards to my previous review> The stiffness does relax over time. On my dog's 18" neck this is easily almost one visible "side" of the collar, but I find that because it is loose, the collar rotates so that the heaviest part (buckle and battery) lies under his neck so the LEDs are easily visible from the back and sides.Overall, I think it's a good value for $19 and I like the piece of mind of having this collar on our dog during night time activities (especially since our dog is mostly black). $19 is a small price to pay to help keep your furry friend safe, and with the collar being rechargable you save money on not buying replacement batteries.

The 1st picture, flash is off. 2nd picture, flash is on.I got the green collar. Socks is 95% or a little more black. On a dark night you can't see him. You can see his collar now. The green LED collar shines bright. Even if you can't see the dog, you can see the collar. Socks is camping at the lake. By the time I got there, the collar was charged. Charge lasted 6 hours. It was set to steady mode. Setting which mode you want is simple. Press the button on collar until you reach the mode you want. To turn it off, keep pressing until it goes off. Collar is adjustable to get the fit you want. It is well constructed. It should last fur ever.

Update - 8/11/23. We heard back from Illumiseen customer service and after a couple of back and forth messages attempting to trobleshoot/fix our issue they are sending us a replacement. Customer service like this is sadly not the norm these days and it was heartwarming to be treated with respect and concern by a corporation. Hats off to Illumiseen!Original post - We purchased this collar in late December and it has worked great up until tonight (7 months) as it will no longer turn off. The collar was nice and bright and worked really well until it didn't. Will be reaching out to Illumiseen to see if they have a fix.
