It was easy enough to add more water which boiled again very ...
I bought this for a destination wedding and used on my wedding dress. It worked fabulously well! Yes, the basin is small and you only get maybe 5 minutes of steam but I didn't want to travel with some humongous thing. It was easy enough to add more water which boiled again very quickly. Also, I only had the spitting water problem once and I do think it was because I overfilled it a tiny bit. I was careful to keep the water below the max fill line after that and didn't have problems. Also, my husband tried to use it on a dress I brought for our honeymoon and had some trouble. You have to be aware of what you are doing and not expect the wrinkles to just fall right out because steam hit the garment for a micro-second.Would definitely recommend!

Great (small) travel steamer
Read reviews about this unit 'spitting water" and having a small water reservoir?First, if you over fill it AND are surprised to find that the excess water has to go somewhere, then you have no business leaving a review for much of anything.Second, as far as complaints about the water tank being small, I have to ask: what part of the description of this being a 'Travel steamer' confused you? This little bad boy heats up fast and does a very decent job-for a travel steamer, where one only needs to steam one or two items. Much more and yes, you must add more water but this is a "travel" unit and made to be compact for that purpose, so having to add another 9 oz. of water when it heats so quickly is not a big deal at all.

Works well, but holds too little water
The steamer works pretty well and heats up very quickly, but since the basin is so small, I have to refill it once per clothing article. I understand it's a travel steamer, but I would have liked it to be a bit bigger. Nonetheless, it is still a great little product.

definitely compact and not meant for heavy duty
Handheld and compact is right! I wouldn't buy this steamer if you needed to do multiple bulk items but it works for me who only uses it a couple times a week for an option that is much easier than ironing. I found that you have to hold the steamer almost against the fabric to really see the best results and because this is so compact, it seems like it may be taking longer than ironing but I think it's easier than ironing, personally. HOWEVER, if you are trying to work on a stiff cotton, stick to the iron

Nice size.
This is my second Sunbeam steamer. Loved it so much I bought one for my daughter and her husband. If you don't have a lot of ironing to do and don't want to pull out the ironing board, this little steamer is great. It is a good size for travelling and comes with a bag. I have a full size steamer but it is so cumbersome with which to work so, after a lot of trying to decide which to use, the little guy always wins out.

False description
Talk about false advertising . The description states that it has a 9oz. water reservoir . This was a little more water than the steamer that I had so I thought it might last longer . When I received it , I measured out 9oz. of water and put it in the reservoir . Only held 4oz to the MAX fill line and 6oz to the very top of the reservoir . It does work pretty well but I bought it for the supposed larger water capacity and longer steam time . If you're looking for an 8 minute steamer this will work fine .

Good for less than a year, warranty unreliable.
I had this steamer for a little less than a year before it suddenly stopped working. I used it maybe once every week or two weeks, and always emptied it out before storing it. It must have some electrical problem; it just won't turn on. I tried to contact Sunbeam regarding the warranty, and their phone system forced me to leave a message. I left my name and number but they have never called me back.So I'll buy a new steamer -- but it sure won't be this one.

Great for the Traveler!
This purchase was for my daughter who will be leaving for college soon. I've been using this product for years. I travel 30 to 60 nights a year on business, and the steamer quickly removes the wrinkles in my suit coat and trousers created from sitting on the plane and in rental cars. It does NOT replace ironing my dress shirts, but maybe that's because I was a US Marine and want the flat, pressed look for my shirts. Casual shirts are great using the steamer, though.
