Great show, great DVD!
This DVD surely beats those early knock-off DVDs and worse, VHS tapes. I have to admit I’m biased about the show: My father was an associate producer and sometimes director on it!

I loved to watched petticoat junction every Saturday night I liked all the plots they had and to see them again is a great entertaining feeling you would want to have if you watch it on tape or disc you can see what shows used to be like in those days and comedy used to be clean and simple

Great episodes, but a word of warning if you have the season sets
As a fan of Petticoat Junction, plus the fact that these restored episodes look and sound great, it's an automatic 4 stars from me. But for those of us who previously purchased the complete season sets, it's a double-dip. All 8 episodes included here are from seasons 1-3, which are available in their entirety. But if you don't want to invest in those (and if you're a fan, you really should, in my opinion), this is an excellent sampler. The disc presents 6 black & white and 2 color episodes, and they're all good choices. And since this is an official release, the A/V quality is much better than those bargain-bin collections that have been around for years.Like I said, I'm a fan, and I'll support any official release. But I'll probably use this more as a way to introduce others to the show.

Excellent series and I'm wallowing in nostalgia
Excellent series and I'm wallowing in nostalgia. True, the catchy title song is missing (copyright problems I believe), but you can always hum along! Good value and has seven episodes. I first watched this as a youngster in the sixties and remember the simple, homely humour. The girls at the hotel are a pretty as ever.

Petticoat Junction Vol. 1
The "Beverly Hillbillies" creator, executive producer Paul Henning, also invented the similary popular "Petticoat Junction",A half-hour series set in Hooteville, a small agricultural community. Here widow Kate Bradley ran a modest hotel called The Shady Rest, with the aid of her three attractive daughters;Billie Jo,Bobby Jo,and Betty Jo, and also with the help of her brother Joe Carson, the hotels manager. Not only was Kate charged with the task of running the hotel, but she kept an eye on her daughters hectic love-lives as well.Eventually, the show spawned a spin-off called "Green Acres",the setting of which was only a ways down the road from Hooterville.Episodes-Kates recipe for hot rhubarbHerby gets draftedPlease buy my VioletsLast chance farmBobbie Jo and the beatnikSpur Line to Shady RestA night at the Hooterville Hilton182 Min./ B&WRegion- Free

I can't be young again so here's the next best thing.......
When I was a boy British TV was not what it is now. There wasn't nearly so much of it for starters and a lot of the good stuff was imported Americana like "Petticoat Junction" (as well as the stuff ITC were making to sell to the Americans!). This disc brings back the friendly comedy I used to look forward to then, stuff that gave you a warm fuzzy feeling, stuff you could watch without fear of tragic irony or real life unpleasantness intruding. You know what? It still does. The gang at the Shady Rest Hotel and their friends on the Cannonball and in Hooterville are as good as ever.At the price this disc is a must buy (unless you are the sort of buyer who MUST have whole seasons!) - 10 doses of Country Feelgood at a bargain cost.So go get it.WHY ONLY 4 STARS? The original theme music has been overdubbed with generic bluegrass (like some Beverly Hillbillies discs I got recently)... and I miss the familiar music over the old credits. I don't recall the soap adverts over the closing credits either but I can go with the Tide....
