Good quality, excellent value
I just installed two of these. I can't make any claims for durability yet, but they seem very solidly made and were easy to install. I pre-drilled a 7/32" hole and used pliers to screw the mount into the hole and to tighten down the wing nut to hold the mount to the screw.I wish I'd tightened the locknuts on the pivot points before installing because it was a minor hassle to tighten then once the mount and camera were installed. From the factory, the pivots seemed just a little too loose to keep the camera from shifting in a storm. There are two degrees of freedom: pan and tilt (yaw and pitch). No roll adjustment, so make sure you find a somewhat vertical section of the tree (or post?) to attach the mount. If the tree doesn't have a vertical section, cut off a thick (> 3") branch with a vertical cut and screw this mount to the face of the cut.I have tried a variety of camera mounts, and this is probably tied for the best. The double-ball-joint ones have more adjustability, but they require more screws to attach, are a little harder to adjust, and are currently twice as expensive as this one.

Five Stars But For The Rust Issue
I originally posted this review and later tried to add a photo and additional comments using the "Comments" link to the review. Unfortunately, I could not see how to add a photo to Comments so tried to "cancel"... this eliminated the entire review. It should be back now (thanks to cut/paste) along with the photo and added thoughts:Original Review:I'm giving this 4*s largely because it's such good value for money; it's versatile; and it adapts easily for use on a T-Post. Note that very few T-Post mounts have the range of motion this tool has. I'd give it 5-stars if I expected it to last longer than one year but I fear it will quickly rust out and the the various rotations, so smooth now, will no longer exist. Note to HME: If you had this hot-dipped galvanized and then painted, it would be 10-stars. It would have to cost more but most of us who hate rusted iron would gladly pay $5 more...I don't really like the little stud for fastening to a tree. First, there's only one and it will almost certainly be in the wrong place where it's put the first time; and getting it out of a tree will be more trouble than it's worth. Just use a 3" plated deck screw with torx drive; you need a drill anyway it the deck screw will be in-easy and out-easy.To use this on a T-post (where it really shines... at least "shines" until it rusts), grab a piece of scrap 1x from your shop floor (my piece was a scrap of 3/8" plywood about 4"x8" but almost any size will work); drill two holes near the top for a U-bolt; just below that drill a hole for an appropriately sized bolt and fasten the HME to the board. Then just use the U-bolt to fasten the board to a T-post, taking care to put the long end down so it will lay against the T-post. If you want to stick the apparatus upward, you'll need to use two U-bolts...Added Thoughts:To attach this device to another post without first bolting it to a larger (wooded) plate, you will need a slender 6" driver because the swivel mechanism gets in the way for a straight drive and you need to use the driver through the small opening in the base mechanism (see picture). However, this is easily done; just takes a few more parts if you're using a power drill. Note the rust already starting to form on the mechanism nuts. Come on HME, stainless is not that much more per item...

Works perfectly with the Ridgetec Lookout
Easy to install, easy to adjust and built strong. All I did before I put it up in a tree was to tighten the nuts and nyloc nuts that hold the pivot mechanism together. Mine came a little too loose. I think I used a 10mm and 12mm wrench. Definitely do this, if necessary, before you put it up. Other than that it’s all is good.

Great for trail cameras and solar panels.
I initially bought this mount for a camera, I discovered the mounts for my solar panel were garbage so I ordered another. This is one of the few mounts that seems strong enough to hold a 5 or 10 Watt solar panel.I've owned other HME products like tree mounted crossbow holders. As other reviewers have noted and from my own experience rust can be an issue, especially in States like Michigan. I preemptively paint my mounts before using them. I use a base coat of matte Rust-Oleum desert tan and then an indirect spray of rustoleum hammered black. This combination gives it sort of a mottled camo look. The extra layer of paint definitely keeps them lasting longer.

Easy to use, better than strap for positioning
This camera mount is very nice for a trail camera on private property or where you might be legally allowed to screw it into a tree or a corner cedar fence post of a field, pasture, or deck. Mine are on private property, so the trees are mine. This really allows you to have a lot of flexibility to mounting your camera. No longer does the tree have to be perfectly straight up/down to mount a camera. Also can be used from large overhanging limbs, such as oak trees or a windfall. Very economical and my cameras have not slipped from position yet, they have stayed where I faced them once positioned. Even had a squirrel and chipmunk sit on top of a camera and that did not move it from position. A bear or raccoon though could easily knock it out of position. Great mount for a cedar fence post too!. I'm sure they make better mounts for much more money, but this has really worked well for me so far. I have two of these.

Those don’t last
You’ll get a year at most out of these before it rusts and becomes impossible to adjust. I think this is my 3rd one as I haven’t found anything better to mount to a large tree.

Best mounts ever!
I have just under 20 trail cams...these are the easiest and strongest ever! ...and Elk proof! Just make sure you have a couple of small box/open end wrenches to secure the pivots after you have your cam perfectly positioned... I went thru numerous mounts before I found these a few years ago...I just ordered two more!

A great solution
It provides easy adjustment of the camera for all three rotational axes as required. Trying to do that with only the straps many cameras come with is hopeless. It uses a standard 3/8” hanger bolt with wing nut. I am not keen to screw the hanger bolt into a living tree, but it is ok for dead trees. I made a couple of mounts with hanger bolts on the corners of my cottage that are very convenient. For living trees, it is easy to securely strap a thin metal bar with a hole holding a 3/8” bolt to the trunk without doing damage to the tree.
