My wife has been maintaining a five year diary for forty years. The style she was using is no longer available for purchase so I found these instead. They arrived promptly, well packaged, and intact. They appear to be of good quality which is important in something that will be used daily for five years. My wife is please.

So glad I decided on buying this as I considered lots of options for a 5 year journal. From pictures it looked like it might have extra text on the cover but it does not. Very simple, minimalist and I love the red with gold embossing. The journal has a page for the start of the year prologue. Each month is marked by a page with a different drawing of a door, and a different edge drawing that allows you to find each month easily. I am able to write a couple sentences per day with the 5 lines available. At the end of April, June and September there is an extra empty lined page to give a bit more room to capture thoughts and so the monthly starting page is always on the right. Perfect placement for extra thoughts around the change of seasons, at mid year and 3rd quarter. There is a yearly epilogue page at the end as well. I use pencil for my journal, not sure on bleed through with ink.

I love this 5 year journal. The box arrived slightly damaged, but that wasn't a deal breaker to me. I imagine the box will get more beat up over the years, so I just glued the tear back together, no big deal. But that may bother some people who like pristine journals. The journal itself was in perfect condition, just the storage box had an issue. The cover of the journal seems very sturdy, and the gold foil debossing was a very nice and elegant touch.The paper quality of Midori products is always outstanding. Fountain pen friendly and very smooth. I love the layout of the 5 year journal- much better than other brands who seem to waste paper on large swathes of empty space. I really like the prologue and epilogue sections at the beginning and end of the journal to write goals and reflections for each year. That's a nice touch that was unexpected. I can't wait to get started on this journal!

We have kept diaries for the 50 years of our marriage. They are wonderful to look back and recall events or find important dates. We could no longer find a source for the X & O Paper Goods Diaries like we had used for years. This Midori diary is smaller and therefore provides less room to write. And will look different on the shelf.. And it doesn't have end papers for writing notes like birthday dates, etc. So we glued in a few extra pages for that. Having a slipcase for our diary is something new, and it will help protect this volume better than before. Useful given that the binding on this new diary is not as rugged as for prior purchases.

I just started this a month ago. I like the idea and the layout works for me. The paper is standard Midori paper, fountain pen friendly, decent sheen and shading. It is a little smaller than A5, larger than A6, so there isn’t much room for each entry. I write small so I can get 6 or 7 sentences, just enough for one item. I have seen reviews on youtube where some people, who write larger than myself, only get 4 sentences.Over all a good choice if you want to compare entries over the years. But not a good choice if you are looking to record longer entries.

A nice sized line-a-day diary with more space to write than my previous. Design is classy and looks nice on a bedside table.
