MSR "What My Family Should Know" Estate Planning Spiral Bound Record Book

This book is great overall for listing all your investments, banks, homes etc. This is my second one I bought the first one for me and this one for my daughter.

perfect book to record everything an executor or family member may need in case of your death or inability to care for yourself.

What my family needs to know isn’t necessarily for the average family, however they can use what does pertain to them. This is more designed for people who have a LOT of investments and securities. It was page after page after page of investments. It will be valuable to family members for your life insurance and your bank accounts as well as your securities , safe deposit boxes, investment advisors etc. It is a good investment for your survivors

I was surprised that it had so many extra pages that aren't needed for a family. I'll just have to tear them out and throw them away. There are 16 pages which contain room for 48 different life insurance policies. Then there are 4 pages for 20 different bank accounts. then 4 pages of various savings & loan association accounts: for 28 different "Systematic Savings Accounts", 28 different "Optional Savings Accounts", followed by 32 different "Investment Savings Accounts". (As a father wanting to give his family what they need to know, I don't even know what they are.) That's followed by 24 different Credit Unions, then places to list 80 different "Securities", then space for 32 different Mutual Funds, then space to list 324 savings bonds, then 6 pages to cover 6 Safe Deposit Boxes, 8 pages for listing "Businesses" (I have no idea what my family wants with that), pages to cover 8 different pieces of real estate property, 8 pages to list 208 real estate improvements, then 4 different attorneys, 4 different "Trustees of Estate", 4 dfferent "Executer(s) of Estate", and 8 more "Executers". The final pages of the book are the first reasonable entries in the book for a family: there is space for up to 4 different Social Security Numbers with associated information, then 4 different accident policiies, the book ends with many lined, but blank, pages calling for up to 224 "Obligations" and then space for up to 112 "Recommendations.If what I just summarized above were listed in the ad, I would have known what I was considering getting and wouldn't have purchased. Couldn't I return it? Not at today's prices for mailing anything - I'll just use the few pages that I can, and throw the rest away.

Sure, death is not something anyone wants to discuss or think about but after losing both of my parents, the importance of this is magnified for me. My Dad became very ill and my sister and I were left taking care of many things. While he was unresponsive it was like a scavenger hunt to find all of the information we needed. We already had POA and access to his bank accounts but there was so much more we needed to know. This keeps everything in one neat place and you don't have to worry about a computer crashing and losing everything. I've bought more copies for friends, especially those with children. It's not bad to be prepared and save your loved ones from having to find everything on their own.

Very disappointed with this product. As per the pics you can see stain on 1st page and then all other pages look as if some wrinkled them. Not a good product for end of life planning.

This book has everything you need in the event of a love one who passes away, especially suddenly (like my dad) and you have no idea what to do, who to call, what monies or stocks, annuities are in what institution/bank, but once this is filled out, it becomes a very, very invaluable tool in your time of need. For some reason, people don’t want to sit long enough to give you all this information, and it is not a matter of trust, they just feel that if you live in a room they just made it as an office, you’ll find everything you need but your emotions are running really high and you have a really great chance of overlooking something but with this book, everything is at your fingertips.
