Zion: Canyoneering Paperback – November 13, 2006

Probably the best book you can purchase on Zion canyoneering period. I would trust no other book as much as I would trust this one, it has not steered me wrong yet. I am so thankful to have my own copy of it finally instead of badgering my partner to steal his. I win!

Using this book again for my second trip to Zion. The de facto guide to Zion canyoneering. Excellent stories. Excellent info for anyone who is planning to visit Zion and do some canyoneering.The binding seems to come off some of the versions of the book, but I nothing some glue can't fix.

A wonderful guide for canyoneers of all levels. Tells you the tools you will need, approximate time needed for hike, risk factors associated with each trail and very detailed route description. I highly recommend!

Excellent book! My friends and I have used the guides and tips in this book many times. He outlines what skill level is needed for the different canyons and clearly explains where to anchor, as well as fun tidbits like underwater holes you can swim through.

I have a passion for the desert country of southern Utah. Although I'm not a "technical" canyoneer, I've completed Zion Narrows from the top multiple times. I've also been all the way through the "semi-technical" Orderville Canyon and hiked many of Zion's trails (Angels Landing, Observation Point, etc.). Zion is truly a national treasure!This is one of the best books on Zion Canyoneering that I've come across. The tables and route/trail descriptions are clear, concise, and interesting. Perhaps you'll never do a "technical" route in Zion but it's still wonderful to read and dream about doing them. If you're looking for a comprehensive description of canyoneering trails & routes in Zion National Park this book is a MUST buy! If you're an armchair canyoneer like me this book is still a MUST buy to enjoy the adventure without the risk!Update 9/17/2009: Thanks for the negative votes guys. fyi, I own almost all of Michael Kelsey's books as well and respect him as an author and adventurer. However, I did run into Michael one day years ago near the mouth of Orderville Canyon. I had just finished Orderville Canyon and spoke with Michael briefly. He asked how the canyon was. He then stated that he had never been all the way through Orderville Canyon. I found that funny since I had used his book as the guide for my Orderville Canyon hike. Just goes to show you no guidebook author is perfect.

Has great information, also check out internet resources that have more up to date information and more canyons in the area.
