How can it be secured when carrying by the strap without it coming apart?

It doesn’t. It was awkward, heavy and cheaply made. I actually cut myself from the sharp edges extending the foot rest. I would not recommend this chair.

Will the cup holder hold a 30oz yeti cup?

will your knees be supported while laying on your stomach or will they fall thru the opening?

It will be supported but the chair is junk, I purchased one for my wife (110 pounds) it fell apart in 2 months, I emailed the company multiple times and never received a response

What are the steps for putting it into the flat position, for lying face down?

There aren't any real steps. All you have to do is put the support down at the head and recline the chair all the way.
