This device works great with the GS911 app
Bought this for my 2016 BMW R1200GSA. Set it up on an ipad and iphone in about 10 minutes (have yet to set it up on a computer and don't plan to now that I see it works fine from these mobile devices). It's a little fidgety to set up, but not too bad. It tries to walk you though every bit of it, but even when it seems clunky, it's not too bad. (It needs to access the network created by the GS911 device and your home network, which is why it's a little funky for the set up. But none of this was required again when I actually used the GS911. Also you need to register the device, which was also a bit clunky to do.) FYI - I downloaded the GS911 app from the app store for free and used this for setup and use. Took it out to my bike a few minutes ago to test it out by running some diagnostics and then clearing the service reminder (the impetus for buying this in the first place, as well as being able to read fault codes and clear them). It was absolutely "plug and play" using the GS911 app. Plugged the GS911 device into the bike, turned the ignition on and run switch to run (don't start the bike) and selected the only GS911 device it could see using the GS911 app on my ipad, selected my type of bike from the menu, and viola! I ran some diagnostics to search for fault codes (thankfully there were none) and then went to clear my service reminder. The response time for diagnostic requests was instant and this did not require any VIN registration. On the first attempt to clear my service reminder it gave me some sort of error code (because it had not registered my VIN yet). So I ran some more diagnostics to play with it, then looked around for a place to register my VIN, but could find nothing. So I went to clear the service reminder again, and up popped a screen asking if I wanted to register this VIN to my "enthusiast" GS911. It had my VIN and bike information right there and all I needed to do was click to accept, and then it took me straight to the service reminder selection. I looked at my bike's instrument cluster and there was the service reminder I have been eagerly waiting to clear, so then I selected to clear the service reminder on the GS911 app (keeping with the standard BMW 6,000 miles or 365 days), and even though I looked up at nearly the same time as selecting to clear the service reminder, it was already gone from the instrument cluster. Not even a millisecond to complete. The device comes in a nice little package with a large fold-open "quick start" guide. My brief experience is that you should set it up at home before trying to use it on the road because I believe it will need internet to register your VIN if you want to do more than just read and clear fault codes. It's very easy to hook up to the bike and the GS911 app is very straight forward (maybe not for all of the setup, but certainly for service use). A quick note: It said in the setup instructions to plug the GS911 device in to the bike or a computer for power (it comes with a USB cable). I just plugged the USB cable into an iphone charger to power it up, and this worked fine (remember that I only set up to work with my ipad and iphone).

Great tool for your BMW motorcycle
Works just as advertised on my 2008 BMW R1200GS. I downloaded the software from the website and was up and running in 15 minutes. I was able to read all modules (had some codes that i didn't know before). ECU information and live data worked. I reset my service reminder (which BMW dealer forgot to do at my last oil change) with no problem. I changed my clock from 12h to 24h display and worked like a charm. I cleared codes in several modules without a hitch. I did think at first that there was a glitch when I tried to clear codes from ABS module, but when I connected later, the codes had indeed cleared. I like the data backup function. Lets you save and or print module info so I can go back later and compare codes that may pop up again. Overall I'm happy with this product. It is a bit on the pricy side for a generic scanner, but i does exactly what I bought it for.I have not yet done any idle adaptations yet and or any other calibrations, but if I run into any problems there I would post back. This is exactly the tool for BMW motorcycle riders who do service on the bike themselves and have some understanding what the data means.

Must have if you do your own maintenance.
A little tricky to learn the functionality of it but once you understand it, it works as expected. Was able to reset my engine service light multiple times myself instead of paying the dealership. Able to see all clear any computer codes and faults. 2014 BMW R1200GSA 50k miles. Already paid for itself

Awesome Tool - 2007 R1200RT
Easy to get working on both USB and WiFi. I was able to quickly go through each of the sensors on the bike and read off any fault codes. I bought it primarily for setting the service interval and doing my own diagnostics/maintenance. Based on the time i've spent on it just out of the box, I can see this will be easily accomplished. Looking forward to preventing expensive maintenance visits and being more aware of my bike. 2007 R1200RT. No adapter needed, just plugged straight in under the drivers seat. Very cool.

Great tool
Purchased for service and trouble shooting of 2016 BMW R1200RS. A must if you do your own work. A bit spendy but does work well and gives lots of information for trouble shooting. I'm not a tech junky but initial setup was easy. I, like others, struggled in the garage to get the thing linked up. It indicated it had connection but wouldn't load. After moving the bike all over the garage I finally found the sweet spot so it had full signal and bam! It connected quickly and the information was flowing. I found the phone interface easy to use. With in minutes I had the VIN registered and service minder reset along with the date and time on the bike (because I had installed a new battery).I think this a great tool and am happy I purchased. But remember, if you're wanting to use the WIFI, you need a great signal at the bike.

It's a little difficult to figure out how to use.
It's a little difficult to figure out how to use. Connecting the device to the bike is easy. Getting the connection between the device and your computer is frustrating. The bike battery must be at a certain level to clear codes, so I finally just turned the engine on. It will be worth the high price when I start using it for diagnostics as well as clearing codes. But to me this is not intuitive.
