Great addition to your parental library
I have read half of the book and love it! I absolutely love how organized the book is, it contains specific tips and suggestions when traveling to each area with kids. Although we may never visit all of the locations- it was very inspiring and educational. An easy read and I learned quite a bit about the VA and DC areas that I didn't know- and I've lived in those areas for 40 years! It also educated me on several locations in the USA that I was unaware of. Good addition to your parental library.

A pleasant read
Nice take on travel writing. With our first child, still a newborn, we're already dreaming of taking some of the trips Keith outlines in his book.

thought provoking - great ideas
If we can visit half these places we will have had an amazing family travel time!! This book was great for prompting ideas and thoughts about places to take our kids. Gave us just enough info to engage our thoughts and make us do more research on some of the cool places it outlined, and gives some really neat kid oriented insights.

Birmingham, AL?
As a homeschooling family of 7, we've traveled all over the United States and I was very excited to get this book. While many of the destinations are solid, family friendly "life changers"...I was honestly shocked they had Birmingham Alabama listed. Do. Not. Go. Here. I recognize the historical significance this city holds for the Civil Rights era, but this is not a place for children. This city is congested, filthy, crime ridden, dreary and depressing---and it's suggested you go out walking around! Not only would most children not understand the significance of walking the bridge, it isn't safe to do so. Birmingham's addition to this book makes me question all the other destinations. Do additional research! (Also, this book has no pictures!)

Wonderful ideas to share with our grandson!
While looking for books to share with my grandson, I heard about this book. My grandson and I read it together and he's now made a wish list of places he'd like to visit. The book itself was our first trip and now we're looking forward to Yellowstone National Park! I can't thank the author enough.

Great for getting ideas
Great for getting destination ideas for family trips. In addition to map at the start of each chapter, wld be helpful to have an inset map on the destination’s page.

Like other reviewers
Like other reviewers, disappointed this doesn't have any kind of photos or illustrations. It had some good ideas that we hadn't thought of but very thin.

I love this book
I love this book, I even have checked out many of the reading recommendations to get into the mood of the places that I plan to visit!, I find it I enjoy places the most when I do that, and now I can share that passion with my six year old daughter. Highly recommended.

Heartwarming how travel can really impact the love and care a person develops for others and empathy for the dif cultures and hardships we all face.

Poor and narrow view - doesn't deserve the National Geographic Label
Honestly,This is one of the most disappointing books I ever bought. We purchased it as a source of inspiration but when we saw the places described in the book we were really disappointed. Most of the US-Spots listed in the book we already aware of (as Europeans) and the European Spots are from my point of view a really bad selection. Does the author know Europe? Example: Why are from the 25 european places described ~5 in the UK and Ireland? I think the book represents a narrow (US-) perspective on our beautiful planet.
