Alla Prima Portraiture with Rose Frantzen

I almost didn't order this dvd because I already have several high quality dvds by some of the greatest living portrait artists. I'm very happy that I decided to buy and view this demonstration. Rose Frantzen is the real deal, an artist with talent and passion. She shares several ideas that I have not seen in other demos. Just Google her name and look at the hundreds of portraits she has done and you will see she has much to offer when painting from the live model.

Rose Frantzen is a great painter, and I could have dealt with her being such a rambling speaker if so much of the painting she does on this portrait wasn't off-screen! A rough start suddenly jumps to a half-finished portrait, and a while later jumps to a nearly finished painting. We are not shown how she did some of the best parts. This is unlike any other painting video I've seen in leaving me in the dark on some of the most important points.

Rose Frantzen is a gifted portrait artist and a down to earth fun instructor! You'll smile all the way through this! Not only does Rose generously offer lots of useful information, she motivates you to pick up the brush and dive right in!

Rose Frantzen made a very useful dvd art lesson, witty and fresh approach in painting. It' s pity that, during the playing, so many passages are lost, this is good but incomplete, not a very step-by-step one.Inspite of this, the lesson conducting shows a very clever artist at his top, and it's not difficult for someone who is eager to look at some other artist to show his own method to learn how to front a blank canvas and make it became a very impressive one.

The DVD worked fine when played in my TV but when trying to view it on my computer it kept reporting corrupted segments, etc., and was not at all useful. Other than that, Rose gave a great demonstration of her painting process and gave some wonderful instruction.
