LOVE THIS MAGNIFIER
Great little magnifier. I use it every day and carry it with me wherever I go. It's small enough to tuck in my pocket or purse yet large enough to help me read close up items. One lens magnifies 3x and the other magnifies 4x. You can use each separately or put them together and get a large 7x magnification. The lens size is about 1.5 inches and perfect for what I need. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has macular degeneration or problems reading small print of any kind.

Good magnifier, not great construction
My eyesight is very bad, so I've carried a magnifier like this around for years. For a long time, my go-to was a Bausch and Lomb 812363, which had pretty much the exact same specs as this. But, for whatever reason, Bausch and Lomb discontinued it and replaced it with a model with slightly higher magnification but smaller lenses. So, failing to find a secret stash of the 812363 (I'm still looking), it was time to find a replacement, and this one fits the bill...almost.In terms of magnification, it's almost identical. Some folks say the lenses aren't great for precise work, but, for my purposes, they're fine. Their size is also good. No complaints there. However, build quality is nowhere near the Bausch and Lomb. I could keep one of those for nearly 10 years, but these fall apart after around 5 months for me. The himge comes apart, and, about the same time, the seam on the other end of the case comes unglued. On the flipside, these are much cheaper, but still...If anyone from Donegan is reading this, I, for one, would be willing to pay more for a sturdier model with the same specs. Make one with a case that'll last as long as the Bausch and Lomb, and I'll happily pay what I paid for one of those. Call it the Magna-Pak Extreme. Just tell me when it's available, and I'll hand over my money.

Wide lens + great price = my go to magnifier.
I keep coming back and purchasing this magnifier. I am a user with low vision (legally blind) and use this on a daily basis. Have a spare at work and at home, and always carry one with me.Some other reviewers, like the coin dealer guy, trash the quality of this magnifier. I do not care that this is not a professional quality magnifier. I probably don't even have the eyes to notice such defects anyways.... What I DO care about is a big sized image and the biggest field of view possible,. I have not found a magnifier that can give me 9X magnification with this size lens. I have purchased others over the years, and lenses are smaller in comparisson, even on 2 tiered designs like the Donegan P-949.Yes, they don't last forever. The spring or plastic housing eventually breaks down. Looking at my purchase history, I probably replace mine every 1~2 years. But the price is usually close to $10, so these are not expensive. For the price, this is an awesome magnifier. And again, the SIZE of the lens is the reason I keep coming back to it.5 stars no question from me.Buy it if you have low vision and use magnifiers 24x7.

but when it met it's end by being dropped after someone ran into me I figured it would be best to keep to cheap stuff for outdoo
I'm a low vision person who uses this to read with well out. Last time I got a higher priced one which I got use to, but when it met it's end by being dropped after someone ran into me I figured it would be best to keep to cheap stuff for outdoor use. The construction of this magnifier is nice, it's a little stiff flipping at first but after a couple weeks of daily use it's loosened up nicely. The optic quality is at best 1 1/2 star though, sorry but even a half blind guy can tell you that if you looking for something for a detail task of importance don't use this it's way too distorted. If you are reading labels on food in the store though it's a pretty good buy.

Love It
So my mom uses this as a vision aid. She is 90% blind in one eye and 100% in the other. This is the only tool we have found that give her 9x power to see and she can carrier with her in her purse daily. Only wish they made it a bit bigger and added a string on it for her to be able to were it around her neck. She love it thought!

Does its job.
I am writing this review and I do not even have one of these magnifiers right now. You may notice the reviews are good or bad, not too many middle-of-the road reviews. People needing allot of sharp detail, like a coin collector or such, this is not what you want. Those of us that have vision impairments bad enough to need something to read with, this is great. I am legally blind and although the construction quality of this magnifier is not great, it is not expensive and it is exactly what I need. I have tried several others and they were too small, the optics gave me a headache, they were awkward to use, they only had one lens so they were not quite as adaptable for different uses, etc. I am coming back to this one because for me, it was the best.

Nice loupe
I have used Donegan Optivisors for years so I thought they would make a nice loupe. I wasn't disappointed. The comparable B&L loupe is half the size and twice the price.

it's fine, but i liked my old one better
I had another one of these but it was like a different brand or something, and it seemed smaller than this one for some reason. I like that the lenses click into place when you fold them in, though. Warning: the field is very small, so this is not great for reading more than a few lines worth of text or large areas.
