‘Hazelnutty’!
My Mom recently purchased some food items when shopping at ‘Modern Bazaar’, an offline store selling all kinds of food products, of Indian and foreign origin. This product was among those purchased. It is manufactured by brand ‘Ferrero’ under its ‘Ferrero Rocher’ range of products. ‘Ferrero Rocher’ is one of the most popular chocolates in the world, and, in my humble opinion, the decision to bring about a chocolate bar derivative of its composition was long overdue. This bar is composed of milk chocolate (59%), with hazelnuts (16%) and cocoa filling. The cocoa solids content is 42% minimum. The bar is pre-divided into a total of 15 squares, alternately bearing the ‘Ferrero Rocher’ logo and a ‘truffle’-like logo as depicted on the product package. The hazelnut component, in the form of finely chopped bits, is visible throughout the bar. When tasted, the dominant flavours are those of the hazelnut and chocolate components. The chocolate component comes across as ‘Gianduja’ or hazelnut-based chocolate, and the hazelnut component has a ‘crunch’ to it, without being toasted, salted, or processed. Both the components complement each other very well. The ‘cocoa’ aspect of the filling is apparent in terms of flavour only mildly, but this is not a ‘con’ per se.‘Ferrero Rocher’ chocolate spheres contain a thick wafer layer, which is not present in any form in this bar. While this is slightly disappointing, the quality of the bar cannot be negated. The bar seemingly aims to be the ‘chocolate bar’ version of ‘Ferrero Rocher’, but ends up being ‘Nutella’ hazelnut-cocoa spread in ‘chocolate bar’ format, albeit with chopped hazelnuts. It is, undoubtedly, delicious. The list of ingredients mentions the bar possibly containing traces of almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecan nuts, brazil nuts, pistachios, and macadamia nuts. People suffering from specific nut allergies are advised to exercise caution.Having had the white, dark, and now milk chocolate variants of ‘Ferrero Rocher’ chocolate bars, I can state that all three bars have distinct flavours, and are worth trying out, as suited to one’s taste preferences and sensibilities.Overall, this product is worth the purchase.
