Having just lost my husband 6 weeks ago, Gracia’s story really resonated with me. It reminded me that other people have experienced the loss of a spouse. I’m not alone. And God is not done with my story.

Tenderly written. God strengthened Gracia to move beyond a loss I can’t imagine. That’s our God. Thank you, Gracia, for continuing to share your story and for including memories from the captivity. I highlighted several sentences and paragraphs that are encouraging and compelling to remember when faced with challenges.

Gracia takes us along with her through the hot, mosquito-ridden jungle. One can just imagine what it would be like for a woman to be unable to shower for days or weeks on end. The Almighty kept her from being raped but there were enough other abuses. I read the whole book in one day. She's not a bitter woman. Everything - even the worst evils imaginable - can have a positive ending. If she didn't relate to the experience as one for a purpose, she wouldn't have speaking engagements in many places. I forwarded to someone very dear to me who needs to get off the ground and fly. Highly recommended!

My heart went out to Gracie when the kidnapping of she and her husband broke in the news. I have read anything I could find on how she is managing her grief and life with God's leading. It was encouraging to read her story and how she is coping along with her children.

Bouncing back from adversity

This is an amazingly positive book written by someone who has been through hardship and, in the Lord Jesus Christ,has triumphed over evil!. It is best read after reading 'In the Presence of my Enemies' but can also stand alone.It is easy to read and yet profound, it has a message to everyone who is going through difficulties in their lives,but also to all of us whose lives, by comparison, seem to be 'plain sailing'.Thank you, Gracia

This was an honest and vivid first person account of enduring a horrible experience with love, grace, hopeful attitude and eyes on the Lord. There is a message for you in this story.

really enjoyed this book. We had Gracia Burnham at our church 2 weeks ago and enjoyed her sermon about her capture in the Phillipines. Find the Kindle great. Gives me a good chance to keep up with lots of reading.
