Vol. 12 Continues fantastic collection of stories
I at first had some problems obtaining this product; I pre-ordered the item as soon as it was posted to Amazon's site, and received it in late July 2011, which is good. Not long after opening it, I discovered that the TPB I had received had pages falling out--chunks of the book falling out all at once. I checked the Amazon site to request a replacement and found that Amazon apparently was aware of "problems with this product" and that the item was no longer being carried in their inventory. When I conducted Amazon about the issue, they agreed to refund my costs because they could not replace it due to not carrying the item any longer. I was disappointed, but agreed to ship it back and have my account refunded. I dragged my feet on returning it long enough though that I discovered Amazon had re-stocked their inventory and were carrying it again! They agreed to replace my faulty copy free of charge! Now onto the book itself! The 2nd copy I received was pristine! The cover art for this item is lovely, and actually is a good reflection of or allusion to cover art for one of the stories collected in this volume. The stories collected in this paperback, while not the best in the series, are nonetheless fun for 'Joe series readers. The Trucial Abysmia/Benzheen storyline wraps up with the rising death toll on the 'Joe side. New storylines pick up. THE BEST PART of this TPB is that it does not contain the normal 10 issues that each volume has contained to date; this volume carries us up to issue #123 (instead of ending with issue #120, we get 121, 122, and 123)! Fantastic value for the price! A definite must-buy!

For a fan
I bought this comic as a Christmas gift for a GI Joe fan. He collects items like this.

What is actually inside...
The book actually contains 280 pages which collect issues #111 - 123. The quality is as good as any of the G.I. Joe releases from IDW.This is an interesting era in G.I. Joe during the early 1990s as we see more of the wild costume changes and zany concepts that took things in an awkward direction. The very last page introduces Headman, the drug king-pin of Broca beach. Before that however we see Metal-Head, Ninja Force, Slice and Dice, and even Cesspool. I really enjoy seeing the comic book takes on some of these characters, which I suspect may have had their roots in the DiC cartoon series which I did not care for.The best part of this collection is the war in Benzheen, which mimics the first Gulf War, except with Cobra Commander invading a small oil rich middle eastern nation. The 3-part "Destro: Search and Destro" story and the subsequent return to the Silent Castle is also very good.

Positive Review
This volume concludes the Trucial Abysmia Conflict and pays homage to the Joes who were killed in action. Destro's new relationship with GI Joe is strengthened when Cobra Commander plots his assasination. An infamous drug dealer makes his debut in this volume and Flint gets a special assignment to spearhead a new task force within the ranks.
