Really Does Add Moisture To The Air
We actually bought 2 of these and they are performing better than expected based on some of the reviews we read. I 100% did not want an ultrasonic humidifier and the mess associated with them so this Smart MI2 evaporative humidifier fit the bill nicely. It's quiet, clean looking, simple to operate and the 1 gallon capacity lasts us just over 24 hours. They are also connected to wifi so when I forget about them I get a notice on my phone the water is empty. We live in the Arizona desert and the humidity level can get into the low single digits. Refilling is extremely easy, just pour a pitcher of water into the top of it. The blower motor is protected from the water. Really ingenious design.

Harmful for your health, DO NOT BUY IT!
Some facts about this product:We brought both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 humidifier, and non of them are in good shape:1. Very difficult to clean, especially for the rotor, it need to breaks down into 40+ discs and you have to clean every single one of those. It takes 30+ mins to clean every time!2. Even though the Gen 2 comes with auto- cleaning feature, it need to run 4-6 hours long. Afterward the rotor, disc, and tank are still filthy and dirty. So regular cleaning is still required but may just not as frequent as Gen 1 (Gen 2: every 3 days, Gen 1: every day, every time 30+45 mins to clean, not a big difference!)2. The discs and rotor are not dishwashable, it deformed heavily after put it into dishwasher even under low heat setting (need to heat for sanitization purpose)3. Even though to clean it every other day, this humidifier does not have filter system so the water is pushed out with bacteria easily. Very obvious odor can be found after just turn it on for 5 mins.4. Our kids are getting very sick even ended up ER because of the bacteria, constant coughing during the night if leave the humidifier on. ==> DO NOT BUY IT!

Best humidifier on Earth.
This humidifier easily on the best one I can find on the market (now that they already release the 3rd version). It is extremely easy to clean as the water tank doesn’t have any conner and the “wick” can be disassembled for cleaning. It is effective and easy to supply water. It is silent except for the highest fan setting. And best of all, it doesn’t have consumable part. But, unfortunately, the best feature doesn’t work for (mostly) uninformed (perhaps ignorant?) consumer base in the US :).Anyway, I find the most effective way to clean the machine is when it start to smell a bit. First, rinse the tank and the wick/filter with tap water. Then, put in about 4oz of bleach. Fill the rest of the tank (to the max line) with tap water. Put the wick/filter in. Keep it like that for about 3 hours. Occasionally rotate the wick/filter a bit. Finally, rinse carefully before use.

Hoped for the best but got poor performance.
I had really high hopes for this because, to me, the main draw of this device was that it self cleans and quiet. It does neither well. And I should've expected poor performance because I had asked two questions prior to purchase and the reps basically copy and pasted the device description as an answer.I used the humidifier in my master bedroom. The room size is 13.5x11.2. The first night I tried it on level 1, no difference. I looked at the interface and noticed it said that the humidity in the room was a whopping 91%. This, of course, was utter bullshit because my throat was dry when I woke up and my humidity monitor registered the room as 30. Ok so I give the device the benefit of the doubt. Maybe if I set it on level 2, there'll be some kind of difference.Nighttime comes around and I set it for level 2. The interface says the room is at 90% humidity and then a few minutes later, drops to 70. My stand-alone monitor shows 35%. Ok, let's see how it goes. Woke up sporadically through the night because the noise was noticeable and, because the interface is still bright when you dim it, I had a hard time falling back asleep. Wife wasn't pleased.Third night, maxed the level, no change and it was LOUD. Like you can hear the discs do a full rotation because of the noise from the motor.I thought maybe the Humidity sensor might have caused it to stop humidifying. The ultrasonic ones i have let you set it to stop once you reach a certain level. Still kind of weird though so I took it into a smaller room, which is about (7x9) to test it. Starting humidity showed 90%, blasted it to level 3, and checked it after 2 hours. It felt slightly more humid than when I started.Regarding the cleaning -- Yes, the water didn't seem to have any lingering dirt and the discs are easy to take apart and clean. What they don't tell you is that there's another set of "smaller discs" or roller on the main compartment that you can't take out. Once mold builds there, you're kind of done. This would normally be a 1 star review but the tank itself was clean, which was great, because I've used evaporative humidifiers before and it was mildew and mold after the first night.Pros:- Definitely easy to clean the discs you can take out.- No mold build-up on the discs or tank but I've only used it for three days and the water was changed out twice.- Relatively easy to use interfaceCons- Second sent of "discs" or roller is difficult to clean. There doesn't look like a way to take it apart to clean.- Dimmed interface is still pretty bright when you wake up in the middle of the night.- App kept stalling on download (IOS 15).It's unfortunate that the product descriptions made it out to be something it wasn't. Maybe I just received a defective model. It's anybody's guess at this point but I'm definitely going to return it.

gamechanger, but not self-cleaning - have to clean with toothbrush every two weeks
had high hopes. but of course self cleaning is too good to be true! love that i can use this safely and it does not create droplets that warp my wood floor. huge plus.cons:- beeps when it is low on water and you can't turn sound off - means i have to either unplug or fill up before bed - woken up to this this more times than i can count b/c it keeps running after it beeps.- not self cleaning - i did experiment with putting discs in dishwasher on quick cycle - seemed to increase time i could go between scrubs but have to scrub first. there are about 30 thin plastic discs inside. pink mold accumulates on both sides and because of the texture, you can't just wipe it off, you have to scrub. i use one of those brushes for under your nails b/c sponges will scrape off b/c of the texture on the discs. it's actually pretty fast and the whole thing takes me about 20-30 min and a load in the dishwasher.pros:- can dim lights some- humidifies air- does not create droplets that mess up floor or carpet
