A female aerator has threads on the inside of the housing and will fit together with the threads on the outside of the male faucet SPOUT (a male adapter, option 1, is needed).
A male aerator has threads on the outside of the housing and will fit together with the threads on the inside of the female faucet SPOUT (a female adapter, option 2, is needed).
