PERFECT for SMD and electronics
This microscope is perfect. If you are looking into getting an microscope for doing electronics rework. Skip the fixed objectives and go right to this. Its slightly more than the one tier down. This is listed as "Vision Scientific" but I can confirm that AmScope is written all over it. That being said AmScope is a fantastic brand that beats out the multi thousand dollar systems. Regarding electronics soldering and rework. This comes with the 0.5X objective and 2.0x objective that you will not need. The 0.5x allows you to cut the zoom and with the 10X eyepieces and the zoom from 0.7x-4.5x its perfect for zooming way up on components. The LED Ring is fine. It comes with a DC Power Adapter and the ring is bright and lights up the boards alright.

Pleasantly surprised!
I searched for months for a microscope that had specific features (zoom, boom stand, Barlow lenses, etc.) and was affordable. Since I would only be using it for a side hobby I couldn’t justify spending 500 or more on a microscope. I found this one early in my search, but I wanted to educate myself to make sure I knew what I really needed. Time and time again I ended up back on this microscope. Till I finally just got it. It came super fast. My only complaint was the part that attaches the boom stand to the base came with the screws broken through the piece. It was easily fixed with some washers and longer screws so it wasn’t a big deal. The microscope it’s self works so much better then I expected! It was nearly half what everyone else was charging for the exact same features and works flawlessly. Well for what I use it for! I am far from an expert in microscopes. But the image is clear, the zoom is amazing! It adjusts easy! The ring light dems and brightens perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed.. So glad I didn’t talk myself out of it again! If your on the fence about it…. Get it! You won’t be disappointed. I love it, and I’m just using it for a hobby that I have no intention of making money from. That surprised even me!

Maginification is on par with my scope at work.
I do micro soldering and needed a scope for other similar work at home, this scope is exactly what I needed. Easy to set up and adjust, magnification is very good and clear, the light ring shines brightly, the base is VERY heavy and it makes for a good stable platform.

Not a Trinocular head.
This AmScope clone is not Trinocular viewing head like the AmScope so you're not really saving any money. Trinocular means you can view with both eye AND the camera at the same time. When you switch to Camera view on this unit, you loose left eye. If it's something you're not going to use it's a way to save some money. But personally I would pay a little bit more and buy a microscope with the Trinocular head. Otherwise well built, well package, no manual / instructions. Focus is very good but field of view is smaller than expected. Maybe more comfortable eye pads will help. Kinda like a cheap BB gun or spotting scope where you're searching for your view. Not at all like a multi-thousand dollar Leupold scope. It's okay for a non-pro like me. I would send it back if I relied on this for my profession and had to use it for hours per day.

great scope for the price
Back in the 90's my x got a Leica zoom binocular scope to use for identifying micro-invertebrates, it was $900 at that time, they are twice as much now. She left it here when she left and I used it once in awhile mostly for getting splinters out of my hands. I had to replace the top light three time and they were getting harder to find, I ended up getting a goose neck lamp to use the scope. A few months ago my x needed it back so I started looking around for a cheaper version, I get lots of splinters. I found this Vision Scientific and decided to try it. I love this scope, it is so much more useful than the old Leica but it is a lot bigger and heaver. I can't tell any difference in the optic quality and it gets twice the zoom as the Leica. My only complaint and it's a small one, is that it didn't come with set-screws to hold the eyepieces in. Sometimes when I take the dust cover off they fall out. This scope came from AMscope, I complained about it but got no response.
