Genuine Toyota 53440-12030 Hood Support Assembly

Jiffy Lube lost my old hood support, so I had to get a replacement. I read a lot of the reviews, and some said it was too short, while others said it was fine. I took a chance and ordered it. It is short, at about 14", and I thought it seemed shorter than my old one when I first opened the box. But once I got under the hood, it was the correct length. I also ordered the little gromet (from a different seller) and it fit great. (I work in construction, and there is a lot of dirt, so don't mind how filthy it is LOL)

Does not fit. Very small. The only hood I see this supporting is that of a power wheel.

Works in my 2004 Pontiac Vibe, you just need to turn it depending on if it's the prop or in the storage clip. Read several reviews how it doesn't work, but it does the job just fine. I assume the same for all 2003-2007 pontiac vibe and toyota matrix

I work in a Quick Lube. We had a Technician in Training that decided to close a customer's hood, not once, but three times without lowering the hood prop (while they customer screamed at home to stop). Needless to say, this caused the hood prop to be adjusted outside of specification. Luckily, the customer did not murder my new tech, nor did the new tech show up for any of his scheduled shifts after this incident. I purchased this product and it arrived quickly. It's the real Toyota part, not a knock off. It took a couple months for the customer to trust us enough to return to the store, but when he did, I was able to install the new hood prop in seconds. You will also need the little plastic grommets if you are replacing the good prop under the same conditions as I did.
